    摘要: A machine to cover articles (50) with flexible plastic material sheets (51, 52) is described. The machine comprises an assembly for heat-sealing and cutting the sheets (51, 52) which cooperates with a work surface (1). The assembly comprises a first (11) and a second (12) element, of which at least the first element (11) is movable with respect to the other, and the two elements being arranged on opposite sides of the work surface (1). The first element (11) comprises a cutting and sealing blade (11) having an electric current which passes through it and the second element (12) comprising a cutting and sealing counter blade (12). Operation means (7, 8) being provided to move the cutting and sealing blade (11) from a rest position to a work position where the cutting and sealing blade (11) engages said cutting and sealing counter blade (12). The first element (11) and the operation means (7, 8) belong to a unit (2) connected to the work surface (1) in a removable manner. The unit (2) comprises also elastic means (3, 4) for holding said blade (11) at rest position.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for sealing and closing an end of a sleeve, more particularly an apparatus and method for bag making, filling, and packaging for intermittently delivering a packaging film of a predetermined length, while forming the film into a tubular shape by a bag making cylindrical body; filling the tubular packaging film with a material to be packaged; and clamping the tubular film by closing a pair of opposed sealing devices to heat seal the tubular film. Apparatus is provided for cooling the heat sealed end of the tubular film by a device which is independent of the sealing device. The heat sealed end of the tubular sleeve is positioned and directly engaged by the cooling members which serves to shorten the cooling time, yet provides an improved seal with an improved appearance.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for forming a water tight seam useful in the production of water beds or water tight envelopes from flexible thermoplastic sheet material. A pair of thermoplastic sheets are thermally bonded to each other by a continuous first seam integrally joining the peripheral edges of the two sheets to each other to form a closed envelope. An elongate strip or band of thermoplastic sheet material is then thermally bonded to the joined sheets in overlying relationship to the first peripheral seam. The strip or band is automatically applied by a machine having a stationary head which is inserted into the interior of the closed envelope through a slit cut in one of the joined sheets for this purpose. A moveable head on the machine is then lowered into an operative position in which the joined sheets are clamped between drive rolls mounted in the two heads, the peripheral first seam joining the two sheets extending between the two heads in a direction normal to the axis of the drive rolls. The peripheral first seam cooperates with guiding mechanism mounted on the heads to assist in guiding the envelope as the first seam is progressively advanced through the heads by operation of the drive rolls. The strip or band is concurrently fed through the heads at the same time and is thermally bonded to the exterior of the envelope by means of heat supplied by a hot air gun and compression applied by cooperating drive rolls. One of the cooperating drive rolls is formed in a manner such that the strips or sheets are compressed in a pattern such that the thermal bond is mechanically sound and water tight, the uncompressed portions accommodating shifting of the material during the sealing process to minimize wrinkling of the seams.
