Abstract: A tissue adhesive membrane and a preparation method thereof are provided. The tissue adhesive membrane includes a supramolecular polymer and an enhancer; the supramolecular polymer is prepared by copolymerization of lipoic acid and a biocompatible stabilizer; and the enhancer includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a cationic compound, a cationic polymer, and a metal particle. The tissue adhesive membrane of the present invention can achieve rapid adhesion, seal wounds continuously and effectively, and maintain long-lasting mechanical strength. The components of the tissue adhesive membrane come from natural components of animals and plants, have good biocompatibility, and possess the functions of antibacterial and inhibiting inflammation. The tissue adhesive membrane of the present invention is a hydrophobic adhesive membrane where hydrogen bonding and high surface energy can provide strong adhesion energy and no adverse active groups that may cause irritation or discomfort are contained.

Abstract: The subject matter of the present invention is incorporating nanostructured antimicrobial silver perovskite particles into bone cement made of Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA). This is accomplished by mixing the nanostructured antimicrobial particles with the cement powder prior to the addition of liquid monomer. The spontaneous and dispersion of the antimicrobial particles in the cement during preparation allows using a small weight for weight ratio of antimicrobial particles relative to the total mass of the cement, thereby substantially preserving the antimicrobial cement's biocompatibility compared to the biocompatibility of the native cement.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods of delivering an agent to the lumen of the vas deferens under guidance of ultrasound imaging. The methods include vas-occlusive contraception in which the vas deferens is non-surgically isolated and an occlusive substance is percutaneously administered into the lumen of the vas deferens under ultrasound. Also disclosed are methods of reversal of vas-occlusive contraception and methods of delivering an agent to the lumen of the vas deferens. Also disclosed are compositions for use in the methods of the invention.

Abstract: Described herein are injectable compositions composed of one or more polycationic polyelectrolytes and anionic counterions, one or more one polyanionic polyelectrolytes and cationic counterions, and a transient contrast agent. The injectable compositions have an ion concentration that is sufficient to prevent association of the polycationic polyelectrolytes and the polyanionic poly-electrolytes in water. Upon introduction of the composition into a subject, a solid is produced in situ. The transient contrast agent diffuses out of the solid over hours or days providing temporary contrast and does not remain in the subject unlike permanent contrast agents. This feature provides sufficient time for the clinician to perform medical procedures prior to the diffusion of the contrast agent out of the solid. The viscosity of the injectable compositions can be varied depending upon the application of the injectable composition. By varying the molecular weight, charge densities, and/or concentrations of the polycationic and polyanionic salts, it is possible to produce injectable compositions having a useful range of viscosities.

Abstract: Disclosed is absorbable bone wax and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the steps of: 1) mixing polyoxypropylene polyoxyethylene block copolymer (PEG-PPG-PEG) and polyoxypropylene polyoxyethylene random copolymer (PEG-PPG), and stirring evenly under heating to obtain a liquid mixture; 2) under mechanical stirring and heating condition, adding hemostatic starch microspheres to the liquid mixture obtained in step 1) to obtain a uniformly-mixed liquid; and 3) adding a bone repair material to the uniformly-mixed liquid obtained in step 2), and mixing uniformly to obtain a mixed solution, then pouring the mixed solution into a mold or sub-packaged bottle, and leaving at room temperature for solidifying and shaping to give the absorbable bone wax. The absorbable bone wax of the present invention can achieve the effect of rapid hemostasis, changing the relatively single hemostasis method with traditional bone wax which only depends on physical sealing.
