摘要: The present invention relates to microparticles that can be used as drug-loaded hydrogel particles for embolization and a method for manufacturing same. The microparticles of the present invention have a very excellent anticancer agent adsorption ability, a short anticancer agent adsorption time, and a controllable decomposition time when administered in vivo. Therefore, when the microparticles of the present invention are used in chemoembolization, not only the anticancer effect is excellent, but also side effects can be minimized.

摘要: A radiopaque embolic liquid may include two oppositely charged polyelectrolytes and a chaotropic salt in aqueous solution. Once delivered to a location containing a flow of lower osmolality medium, the polyelectrolytes can quickly undergo complex coacervation, precipitate as a hydrogel and can act as an embolic material. The resulting material is radiopaque i.e., visible in CT scan or radiographic imaging.

摘要: An embolic agent and a piezoelectric substance are mixed together. The mixture can be delivered to a tumor or other object by a non-invasive method. The embolic agent prevents movement of the piezoelectric substance from the target location. Subsequent impulses applied to the target location cause ablation of the surrounding area due to the piezoelectric effect of the particles, promoting highly accurate and precise ablation without the need for more invasive procedures.

摘要: A method for treating an aneurysm in accordance with a particular embodiment of the present technology includes intravascularly delivering a mixture including a biopolymer (e.g., chitosan) and a chemical crosslinking agent (e.g., genipin) to an aneurysm. The method further includes mixing the biopolymer and the chemical crosslinking agent to initiate chemical crosslinking of the biopolymer. The mixture is delivered to the aneurysm via a lumen and an exit port of a catheter while the chemical crosslinking is ongoing. The mixture exits the catheter as a single cohesive strand that at least partially agglomerates to form a mass occupying at least 75% of a total internal volume of the aneurysm. During delivery of the mixture, the method includes expanding a tubular flow diverter to reinforce a neck of the aneurysm.

In a dual-layer body, first and second longitudinal sections, having respective first and second porosities, can be overlapped such that the first and second porosities overlap each other. The dual-layer construction can cumulatively provide a third porosity at a distal portion and a fourth porosity at a proximal portion. The third and fourth porosities can each be greater than each of the first and second porosities.
