摘要: In a process for preparing C2-oxygenates by reaction of CO and H2over a rhodium-containing supported catalyst, the catalyst comprises, based on the total weight, from 0.01 to 1O% by weight of rhodium, from 0.001 to 10% by weight of zirconium, from 0.01 to 5% by weight of iridium, from 0.01 to 10% by weight of at least one metal selected from among copper, cobalt, nickel, manganese, iron, ruthenium and molybdenum, from 0.01 to 10% by weight of at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal selected from among lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, magnesium and calcium, on an inert support.

摘要: This invention relates in part to processes for producing one or more substituted or unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols which comprise subjecting one or more substituted or unsubstituted penten-1-ols to reductive hydroformylation in the presence of a reductive hydroformylation catalyst, e.g., a metal-organophosphorus ligand complex catalyst, to produce said one or more substituted or unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols. The substituted and unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols produced by the processes of this invention can undergo further reaction(s) to afford desired derivatives thereof, e.g., epsilon caprolactone. This invention also relates in part to reaction mixtures containing one or more substituted or unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols as principal product(s) of reaction.

摘要: This invention relates to a process for preparing specific substituted benzaldehydes through the reaction of substituted benzenes with carbon monoxide and aluminum chloride at a relatively low pressure, at a low temperature, and in the presence of at most a catalytic amount of an acid (preferably aqueous HCl). The resultant substituted benzaldehydes are useful as precursors to the formation of a number of different compounds, such as dyestuffs, flavorings, fragrances, nucleating agents, polymer additives, and the like. The inventive method provides a very cost-effective and safe procedure for producing such substituted benzaldehydes at very high yields.

摘要: A method wherein a gas stream containing hydrogen, a carbon oxide and hydrogen sulfide is first passed in contact with a catalyst comprising a porous alumina supported sulfided metal selected from the group consisting of molybdenum (Mo), chromium (Cr), tungsten (W), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), tin (Sn), vanadium (Va) and mixtures thereof, optionally promoted by an alkali metal sulfide, to convert said hydrogen, carbon oxide and hydrogen sulfide to methyl mercaptans, (primarily methanethiol (CH.sub.3 SH)), and the gas stream containing the methyl mercaptans are passed in contact with a catalyst comprising a supported metal oxide or a bulk metal oxide in the presence of an oxidizing agent and for a time sufficient to convert at least a portion of the methyl mercaptan to formaldehyde (CH.sub.2 O), and sulfur dioxide (SO.sub.2).
