A process for the preparation of a catalyst composition, which process comprises: forming a carrier from a mixture comprising a pentasil zeolite, one or more porous refractory oxide binders selected from alumina, amorphous silica-alumina, aluminum phosphate, magnesia, chromia, titania, boria and silica, and an aqueous solution of a zirconia precursor, and impregnating said carrier with metal dopants comprising one or more Group 10 metals selected from platinum, palladium and mixtures thereof in a total amount in the range of from 0.001 to 1 wt. % and, optionally, in the range of from 0.01 to 0.5 wt. % tin, based on the total weight of the catalyst composition; a catalyst composition prepared by said process; and a process for the use of said catalyst composition in xylene isomerisation are provided.

A novel metal organic framework, EMM-33, is described having the structure of UiO-67 and comprising bisphosphonate linking ligands. EMM-33 has acid activity and is useful as a catalyst in olefin isomerization. Also disclosed is a process of making metal organic frameworks, such as EMM-33, by heterogeneous ligand exchange, in which linking ligands having a first bonding functionality in a host metal organic framework are exchanged with linking ligands having a second different bonding functionality in the framework.

Process for increasingly producing D-Lactide and meso lactide by depolymerizing by back biting polylactide (PLA) said process which comprises: (i) Depolymerizing polylactide into its corresponding dimeric cyclic esters by heating the polylactide in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a catalyst and a co-catalyst in a reaction zone at temperature and pressure at which the polylactide is molten; (ii) Forming a vapor product stream from the reaction zone; (iii) Removing the vapor product stream and optionally condense it; (iv) Recovering, either together or separately meso-lactide, D-lactide and L-lactide.

A method for producing adamantane includes the steps of preparing a catalytic composition including an acidic ionic liquid and a co-catalyst and subjecting a tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene-containing component to isomerization in the presence of the catalytic composition to form adamantane. The acidic ionic liquid includes aluminum chloride and a quaternary onium compound selected from the group consisting of a quaternary ammonium halide, a quaternary phosphonium halide, and a combination thereof. The co-catalyst is an oxygen-containing reagent.

A catalyst comprising a NCN pincer ligand group VI complex is capable of being used as an olefin polymerization or isomerization catalyst that does not require an expensive cocatalyst. The complex has the NCN pincer ligand in a trianionic form with the group VI in the +3 oxidation state or the +4 oxidation state and complexed to an anionic hydrocarbon group, or the complex has the NCN pincer ligand in a dianionic form with the group VI in the +2 oxidation state. The complex is capable of initiating the polymerization of alkenes without an added activator. The presence of a water scavenger and activator or cocatalyst, such as triisobutylaluminum, increases the catalytic activity. The complex is capable of selectively isomerizing 1-alkenes to cis/trans 2-alkenes.

The present application provides a composite material and system for use in a heterogeneous flow reactor, which can include: a catalytic polymeric framework comprising catalyst-containing monomeric units each separated by at least one non-catalyst-containing monomeric unit; and a solid support material, wherein the catalytic polymeric framework is covalently or non-covalently immobilized on or in the support material. Each catalyst-containing monomeric subunit in the polymeric framework comprises a transition metal bound to a catalyst ligand. Also provided are methods of manufacture and use of the catalyst system and composite material.
