    摘要: Metal complexes useful as olefin polymerization catalysts corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## or a dimer, solvated adduct, chelated derivative or mixture thereof, wherein:Q is a cyclic group or Y*, that is bound to M by means of a delocalized .pi.-bond, said group containing up to 50 nonhydrogen atoms;M is a metal of Group 3, 4 or the Lanthanide series of the Periodic Table of the Elements;Z is a covalently bound, divalent substituent of up to 50 non-hydrogen atoms having the formula, --(ER.sub.2).sub.m --, wherein E independently each occurrence is carbon, silicon or germanium, R independently each occurrence is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbyloxy, silyl, and germyl of up to 20 atoms other than hydrogen, and m is an integer from 1 to 3;Y* is an allyl or a hydrocarbyl-, silyl- or germyl-substituted allyl group containing up to 20 nonhydrogen atoms bonded to Z and bonded via an .eta..sup.3 -.pi. bond to M;L is a neutral confugated diene ligand having up to 20 non-hydrogen atoms;X" independently each occurrence is a monovalent, anionic moiety selected from hydride, halo, hydrocarbyl, silyl, germyl, hydrocarbyloxy, amide, siloxy, halohydrocarbyl, halosilyl, silylhydrocarbyl, and aminohydrocarbyl having up to 20 non-hydrogen atoms, or two X" groups together form a divalent hydrocarbadiyl group;n is a number from 0 to 3; andp is an inteaer from 0 to 2.

    摘要: The present invention provides a catalyst for polymerization comprising (A) a transition metal compound containing at least one linkage represented by the general formula (I): M.sup.1 --Z--C (I) wherein M.sup.1 represents a metal element of Groups 3 to 6 or the lanthanide series, and Z represents an element of Group 15, in one molecule, (B) (a) a compound which can form an ionic complex by the reaction with the transition metal compound or (b) a specific oxygen-containing compound, and (C) a metal compound containing alkyl group which is optionally used; and a process for producing a styrenic polymer, particularly a styrenic polymer having a highly syndiotactic configuration, comprising using this catalyst for polymerization. In accordance with the present invention, a novel catalyst for polymerization which has a high activity and enables reduction of the content of the residual metal in the polymer, simplification of the production process, decrease in the production cost, and improvement of physical properties of the polymer and a process which efficiently produces syndiotactic polystyrene can be provided.

    摘要: Inorganic and organic impurities are removed from a metallocene catalyst compound comprising the steps of (a) separating inorganic impurities from said compound by forming a solution of said compound in an organic solvent medium which is substantially a non-solvent for said inorganic impurities, (b) treating the solution of said compound with a particulate absorbing material so as to absorb and remove organic impurities from said solution, and (c) separating the solid material, including said particulate absorbing material, from said solution. Optionally, water can be removed by adding a drying agent.

    摘要: The invention is directed to a catalyst composition suitable for addition reactions of ethylenically and acetylenically unsaturated monomers comprising a metal oxide support having covalently bound to the surface thereof directly through the oxygen atom of the metal oxide an activator anion that is also ionically bound to a catalytically active transition metal cation compound. The invention includes a preparation process for the invention catalyst composition exemplified by reacting a Lewis acid, such as trisperflourophenyl boron with residual silanol groups of a silica support, preferably then reacting with a Lewis base such as diethylaniline, so as to prepare a silica bound anionic activator that when combined with a suitable transition metal compound will protonate it so as to form the ionic catalyst system. Use of the invention catalyst to polymerize alpha-olefins is exemplified.

    摘要: This invention is generally directed toward a method for producing metallocene catalyst systems. Specifically, the method involves removing solid impurities from a solution of activated metallocene wherein activation has the effect of solubilizing the metallocene but not the impurities. The resulting catalyst system is higher in activity and produces polymer having excellent particle morphology with little or no reactor fouling.
