摘要: A porous polymer battery separator is provided that includes variable porosity along its length. Such battery separators can increase the uniformity of the current density within electrochemical battery cells that may normally experience higher current density and higher temperatures near their terminal ends than they do near their opposite ends. By disposing a variable porosity separator between the electrodes of an electrochemical cell such that its terminal end has a lower porosity than its opposite end, the transport of ions, such as lithium ions, through the separator can be more restricted in normally high current regions and less restricted in normally low current regions, thereby increasing the overall uniformity of current density within the battery cell. Variable porosity battery separators may be produced by a modified solvent exchange process. The process may include forming a polymer-containing film having a non-uniform thickness, selectively densifiying the film so that it has a non-uniform polymer concentration, and inducing variable porosity in the film.

摘要: A resin foam having fine foam cells is provided at low cost. A method of producing the foam includes preparing a molten resin composition and continuous extrusion foaming of the molten resin composition. The molten resin composition is prepared by melting a resin mixture of resins (A) and (B) by dissolving a foaming agent into the resin mixture. Resins (A) and (B) respectively have appropriately selected glass transition temperatures and resin (B) particles of appropriate diameter are dispersed in resin (A).

摘要: A method for making a plate-like fibre-reinforced product to be used as building or packing material, the method comprising: placing fibres on a lower laminate; applying a binding agent on the fibres so that the fibres are surrounded by the binding agent; transferring the fibres with binding agent between the lower laminate and an upper laminate between lower and upper rotating pressing plates (4, 3); allowing the binding agent to foam up, expand and harden between the upper and lower pressing plates. In order to economically manufacture such a product with desired physical and mechanical properties, the method comprises the steps according to which the fibres are made into a three-dimensional cohesive fibre mat of fibres bound together, the fibre mat having a moisture content of 5% at the most before the binding agent is applied onto the fibre mat, the binding agent is applied onto the fibre mat and the obtained mixture is subjected to a pressure of at least 0.8 bar and 5 bar at the most and is allowed to harden to a plate-like product having a thickness of 10 to 150 mm; and the lower and upper laminate are removed from the hardening product. The invention also relates to a manufacturing apparatus and a plate-like product.
