Abstract:
Components for articles of footwear and athletic equipment are provided including a foam. A variety of foams and foam components and compositions for forming the foams are provided. In some aspects, the foams and components including the foams can have exceptionally high energy return while also having improved durability and softness. In particular, midsoles including the foams are provided for use in an article of footwear. Methods of making the compositions and foams are provided, as well as methods of making an article of footwear including one of the foam components. In some aspects, the foams and foam components can be made by injection molding or injection molding followed by compression molding.
Abstract:
An additive masterbatch composition comprising a semi-crystalline polyolefin carrier resin and an additive package comprising a product of a reaction of an acidic condensation catalyst and a secondary diarylamine. A moisture-curable polyolefin composition comprising the additive masterbatch composition and a (hydrolyzable silyl group)-functional polyolefin prepolymer. A method of making the compositions; a moisture-cured polyolefin composition prepared therefrom; a manufactured article comprising or made from the formulation; and a method of using the manufactured article.
Abstract:
A method of forming a skin-foam-substrate type structure particular suitable as an automobile trim component. The method comprises supplying a polymer resin containing a chemical foaming agent and including metal particles capable of inductive heating, that is positioned between a polymeric skin and substrate, followed by inductive heating to cause foaming of the polymeric resin. The foamed polymer resin adheres to the skin and substrate.
Abstract:
Composite resin particles comprising 50 to 800 parts by mass of a polystyrene-based resin with respect to 100 parts by mass of a polyolefin-based resin, wherein: when transmission electron microscope (TEM) images obtained by photographing cross-sections of the composite resin particles using a TEM at a magnification of 1,000 are subjected to a binarization processing and areas in the obtained binarized images which correspond to a cross-sectional area of 437.584 μm2 of the composite resin particles are subjected to image analysis, the polystyrene-based resin satisfies the following requirements: (1) the number of dispersed particles is 180 or more; (2) the maximum of the areas of dispersed particles is 200 μm2 or less; and (3) the coefficient of variation in dispersion is 100% or more, and the composite resin particles exhibit an inner morphology that includes a mixture of sea-island structure regions and co-continuous structure regions.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a rubber composition that may improve fracture resistance of the resulting tire while maintaining good drainage performance, and a tire using the same. The rubber composition includes: a rubber component; and a fiber made of a hydrophilic resin. The fiber is formed with a coating layer on its surface. The coating layer is made of a resin having affinity for the rubber component.
Abstract:
The present application refers to a process for the modification of polypropylene, wherein amount, size and configuration of the branches are controlled, the process comprising the steps of (A) preparing a bis(sulphonazide) (BSA) masterbatch by dispersing BSA in polyolefin; (B) adding (i) at least one fatty acid salt with metal cation having valence of 1+ to 3+; and (ii) the BSA masterbatch prepared in step (A) to the polypropylene to be modified. Said modified polypropylene of the present invention possesses properties suitable for use in foaming, blowing, thermoforming, recoating, film extrusion, BOPP, spinning processes and other processes and applications, and it is also suitable to be in contact with food products.
Abstract:
Provided is a thermoplastic resin film comprising a base layer (A) containing a thermoplastic resin and a coating layer (B) provided on at least one surface of the base layer (A), the coating layer (B) containing components derived from (a) an emulsion containing resin particles formed from an olefin-based copolymer and (b) an ethyleneimine-based resin, wherein the thermoplastic resin film is characterized in that a volume-average particle size of the resin particles contained in the emulsion is from 0.1 to 0.72 μm. The thermoplastic resin film has good coloring performance during printing using gold ink and/or silver ink, has conventional transferability and adhesiveness even in hot melt transfer, and shows little generation of paper dust.
Abstract:
A process for producing a polyester polyol comprising reacting a recycle stream selected from recycled PET carpet, carpet fiber, containers, textiles, articles or mixtures thereof, with a glycol in a reactor, thereby forming a digested product stream comprising polyols, and an undigested stream; and then reacting the digested product stream with a hydrophobe selected from dimer fatty acids, trimer fatty acids, oleic acid, ricinoleic acid, tung oil, corn oil, canola oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, bacterial oil, yeast oil, algae oil, castor oil, triglycerides or alkyl carboxylate esters having saturated or unsaturated C6-C36 fatty acid units, saturated or unsaturated C6-C36 fatty acids, alkoxylated castor oil, saturated or unsaturated C9-C18 dicarboxylic acids or diols, cardanol-based products, recycled cooking oil, branched or linear C6-C36 fatty alcohols, hydroxy-functional materials derived from epoxidized, ozonized, or hydroformylated fatty esters or acids, or mixtures thereof.
