    摘要: A curable composition for production of coatings with an antimicrobial property contains at least one film-forming polymer, at least one up-conversion phosphor, optionally, at least one additive, and optionally, at least one curing agent. The phosphor is selected from the idealized general formula (I), A1-x-y-zB*yB2SiO4:Ln1x,Ln2z,, where x=0.0001-0.05, z=0 or z=0.0001 to 0.3, and y=x+z; A is selected from Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba; B is selected from Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs; B* is selected from Li, Na, and K; where B is the same as B* or B is not the same as B*, and B and B* are preferably not the same; Ln1 is selected from praseodymium (Pr), erbium (Er), and neodymium (Nd); and Ln2 is optionally selected from gadolinium (Gd).

    摘要: The present invention relates to cellulose mixed esters, processes for preparing these and uses of the cellulose mixed esters, for example in coating compositions. The cellulose mixed esters have glass transition temperatures that fall within an appropriate range to allow for film formation to occur at ambient temperatures and have a total degree of substitution per anhydroglucose unit of about 2.5 to about 3.5; a residual hydroxyl functionality per anhydroglucose unit of 0 to about 0.5; a degree of substitution per anhydroglucose unit by C2-C6 ester groups of about 0.5 to about 2.8; and a degree of substitution per anhydroglucose unit by Ievulinyl ester groups of about 0.2 to about 2.6.

    摘要: A method for improving holdout on a coated, cellulosic substrate, such as a man-made fiber board. The process comprises the steps of applying an aqueous carboxymethyl cellulose acetate butyrate size composition to a man-made fiber substrate, forming a sized substrate. The sized substrate is then dried. Next, an aqueous coating composition is applied to form a coated, sized substrate. The coated, sized substrate is then dried. According to the invention, the aqueous carboxymethyl cellulose acetate butyrate size composition used in the process comprises carboxymethyl cellulose acetate butyrate, water, and an organic solvent. The invention also relates to a sized, man-made fiber substrate comprising a man-made fiber substrate and a carboxymethyl cellulose acetate butyrate size. The carboxymethyl cellulose acetate butyrate may be either an internal sizing agent, or an external sizing agent.
