Abstract: A method for low-latency streaming of audio and video via a mobile computing device to facilitate a high-quality, real-time interactive streaming experience. The method includes receiving an application audio stream generated by execution of an application program, an application video stream generated by execution of the application program, a microphone audio stream, and a camera video stream. The application audio stream and the microphone audio stream are mixed to produce a mixed audio stream. The application video stream and the camera video stream are composited to produce a composited video stream. The mixed audio stream is encoded to produce an encoded audio stream, and the composited video stream is encoded to produce an encoded video stream. The encoded audio and video streams are packaged into one or more streaming packets, and output, to a remote computing device.

Abstract: An embedded system for video processing comprises hardware means for realizing the following functions: a) a server function, wherein for realizing the server function the following functions are realized: a1) receiving of at least one image-, at least one audio-data stream; a2) compression of at least one of the image- and audio-data streams yielding in each case a combined data stream respectively; a3) output of at least one of the combined data streams via a protocol based network; b) a client function, wherein for realizing the client function the following functions are realized: b1) receiving of at least one combined data stream from the protocol based network; b2) decompression of the at least one combined data stream; b3) output of the combined decompressed image- and audio-data stream; c) wherein the hardware means are designed in such a way that they c1) compress and decompress a continuous combined data stream and c2) conduct an individual security measure by means of a hardware serial number saved in the system and/or an individual activation code and c3) comprise activation code monitoring means, which conduct a monitoring and comparison of activation codes.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for combining transponder bandwidths comprises a wide-band virtual transponder for transmitting a single data stream. The wide-band virtual transponder is comprised of a plurality of narrow-band physical transponders. A plurality of elementary streams are statistically multiplexed to create the single data stream, wherein the single data stream is forward error correction encoded and demultiplexed into a plurality of transponder streams for transmission by the plurality of physical transponders. The physical transponders each use a different portion of a signal spectrum, wherein the different portion may be guard bands or a combination of legacy bands and guard bands. Upon receipt, the transponder streams are multiplexed to recover the single data stream, wherein the recovered single data stream is forward error correction decoded and statistically demultiplexed to recover the plurality of elementary streams.

Abstract: Television white space devices are operable to communicate information over television white space and, more specifically, to quiet a transmitter for sensing signals in the television white space. A method for inconspicuous quieting of the transmitter in a television white space device inserts, from an application layer, information into a transport stream for transmission by the transmitter of the television white space device to produce a null window of time within the transport stream at a predetermined time. The method also transmits the transport stream by the transmitter of the television white space device and quiets the transmitter during the null window of time. The method senses, by a white space sensor of the television white space device, existing signals in the white space during the null window of time.

Abstract: When switching sources, resolutions or refresh rates in a video distribution network, switching times are reduced by maintaining video lock and security authentication between a video switcher and a video sink. The scaler maintains video lock and security authentication by continuing to generate video timing data during switching events. The scaler also facilitates an aesthetically pleasing transition by generating image content data prior to and after the switching event.

Abstract: In particular embodiments, one or more computer systems query a social graph for social content associated with particular media content, present a content visualization graph for display on a display device, determine a plurality of interesting points of the particular media content based on an amount of social content generated, and provide indications on the content visualization graph of at least some of the determined plurality of interesting points. The content visualization graph provides a visual indication of particular points within the particular media content that the social content was generated. Determining the plurality of interesting points includes determining a respective amount of social content generated for each of a plurality of time periods and selecting, as the plurality of interesting points, a pre-determined number of the plurality of time periods that have the largest amount of generated social content.

Abstract: In particular embodiments, one or more computer systems of a social-networking system determine available media content from one or more content sources and query a social graph of a social-networking system for social content associated with a user of the social-networking system. The social graph includes nodes and edges connecting the nodes. The nodes include user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system. The one or more computer systems of the social-networking system determine, using the social content and the available media content, a plurality of social coefficients for the user, determine, based on the determined social coefficients, recommended media content for the user, and provide the recommended media content for display in a programming guide on a display device.

Abstract: In particular embodiments a social networking system may receive authorization from a first user of a social-networking system to control at least in part one or more functions of a set-top box (STB) of the first user, determine one or more social actions of one or more second users of the social-networking system, determine one or more instructions for the STB of the first user based at least in part on the social actions, and provide the instructions for the STB of the first user. The social-networking system includes a graph having a plurality of nodes and edges connecting the nodes.
