Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for recording data in a network. A recording device may receive a recording instruction identifying a media content transmitted by an upstream media content server, and may offload recording one or more of a plurality of portions of the media content to one or more intermediate recording devices positioned between the recording device and the upstream media content server. Each portion of the media content may correspond to different portion of a transmission period associated with transmission of the media content, and may be assigned a corresponding recording control information configured based, at least in part, on one or more parameters associated with a network node recording or storing a corresponding one of the portions. Storage and retrieval of each of the portions of the media content may be managed based, at least in part, on the corresponding recording control information.

Abstract: Techniques for on-demand issuance of private keys for encrypted video transmission are described. A video processing service of a provider network receives a request from a computing device outside the provider network to begin video processing of video data generated by a video source device outside the provider network. The video processing service sends instructions to a video encoding device associated with the video source device to establish the connection for video transmission. The video processing service sends an encryption key to the video encoding device, and sends a decryption key to a video decryption engine. Subsequently, the video processing service receives video data from the video source device, via the video encoding device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, one or more portions of video content that were encoded by a video encoder are identified. The one or more portions of video content are to be analyzed for improving encoding performance of the video encoder. The one or more portions of the video content are stored. During an idle time period of the video encoder, the one or more portions of video content are analyzed in combination with a test set stored by the video encoder in order to modify one or more functions of an encoding process used by the video encoder. Based on the analysis, one or more modifications to the encoding process are determined that result in improved performance of the video encoder.

Abstract: Video content is uploaded via the Internet to a video-on-demand (VOD) server identified by a title and a hierarchical address of categories and subcategories for categorizing the title. The VOD server converts and stores the video content at a storage address in a video content database linked to the title. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as in its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. This can enable many new blogging or podcasting-like programs by popular “Hosts” to be self-published on the Internet and readily navigated for display on TV. The EPG can also store TV program addresses as bookmarks and allow them to be shared with other subscribers or with friends and contacts online by sending to their email addresses.

Abstract: A method for low-latency streaming of audio and video via a mobile computing device to facilitate a high-quality, real-time interactive streaming experience. The method includes receiving an application audio stream generated by execution of an application program, an application video stream generated by execution of the application program, a microphone audio stream, and a camera video stream. The application audio stream and the microphone audio stream are mixed to produce a mixed audio stream. The application video stream and the camera video stream are composited to produce a composited video stream. The mixed audio stream is encoded to produce an encoded audio stream, and the composited video stream is encoded to produce an encoded video stream. The encoded audio and video streams are packaged into one or more streaming packets, and output, to a remote computing device.
