摘要: An elevated target amount of electrolyte is used to initially fill a molten carbonate fuel cell that is operated under carbon capture conditions. The increased target electrolyte fill level can be achieved in part by adding additional electrolyte to the cathode collector prior to start of operation. The increased target electrolyte fill level can provide improved fuel cell performance and lifetime when operating a molten carbonate fuel cell at high current density with a low-CO2 content cathode input stream and/or when operating a molten carbonate fuel cell at high CO2 utilization.

摘要: A redox flow battery includes a tank configured to store an electrolyte and a distribution mechanism to distribute the electrolyte to a battery cell. The tank has a partition portion partitioning a space inside the tank into a first space and a second space, the distribution mechanism has a distribution passage through which the electrolyte is distributed between the first space and the second space via the battery cell, and the partition portion is composed of a flexible material.

摘要: A fuel cell system may include a first fuel cell provided on a first substrate; a second fuel cell provided on a second substrate, and having a power generation capacity higher than a power generation capacity of the first fuel cell; a first heater provided at the first fuel cell; a second heater provided at the second fuel cell; and a battery, wherein the first heater heats the first fuel cell by using power supplied from the battery, and wherein the second heater heats the second fuel cell by using power supplied from the first fuel cell.

摘要: A method for producing a microporous material comprising the steps of: providing an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE); providing a filler; providing a processing plasticizer; adding the filler to the UHMWPE in a mixture being in the range of from about 1:9 to about 15:1 filler to UHMWPE by weight; adding the processing plasticizer to the mixture; extruding the mixture to form a sheet from the mixture; calendering the sheet; extracting the processing plasticizer from the sheet to produce a matrix comprising UHMWPE and the filler distributed throughout the matrix; stretching the microporous material in at least one direction to a stretch ratio of at least about 1.5 to produce a stretched microporous matrix; and subsequently calendering the stretched microporous matrix to produce a microporous material which exhibits improved physical and dimensional stability properties over the stretched microporous matrix.

摘要: A printed fuel cell having integrated gas channels, and having an anode layer, where a first gas diffusion electrode layer is periodically fixed to the anode layer, wherein the periodically fixed first gas diffusion electrode layer defines hydrogen flow field channels. A first catalyst material is coated or infused to the first gas diffusion electrode layer. An electrolyte membrane covers portions of the anode layer and first gas diffusion electrode layer with the first catalyst material. A second catalyst material is coated or infused to the electrolyte membrane. A second gas diffusion electrode layer is in operative association with the electrolyte membrane and second catalyst material, on a surface of the electrolyte membrane different from a surface of the electrolyte membrane which is in contact with the first gas diffusion electrode layer, and a perforated cathode is in contact with the second gas diffusion electrode layer.

摘要: The invention relates to a composite or a composite membrane consisting of an ionomer and of an inorganic optionally functionalized phyllosilicate. The isomer can be: (a) a cation exchange polymer; (b) an anion exchange polymer; (c) a polymer containing both anion exchanger groupings as well as cation exchanger groupings on the polymer chain; or (d) a blend consisting of (a) and (b), whereby the mixture ratio can range from 100% (a) to 100% (b). The blend can be ionically and even covalently cross-linked. The inorganic constituents can be selected from the group consisting of phyllosilicates or tectosilicates.

摘要: The present invention pertains to a fluoropolymer [polymer (F)] comprising: recurring units derived from vinylidene fluoride (VDF), and from 0.01% to 5% by moles of recurring units derived from at least one (meth)acrylic monomer [monomer (MA)] having formula (I) here below: wherein: R1, R2 and R3, equal to or different from each other, are independently selected from a hydrogen atom and a C1-C3 hydrocarbon group, and ROH represents a hydrogen atom or a C1-C5 hydrocarbon moiety comprising at least one hydroxyl group, said polymer (F) comprising end groups having formula —CF2H and/or —CF2CH3 in an amount of at least 30 mmoles per Kg of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) recurring units. The invention also pertains to a process for the manufacture of said polymer (F) and to use of said polymer (F) as binders for the manufacture of electrodes or for the manufacture of membranes.
