摘要: In at least one embodiment, a separator is provided with a fibrous mat for retaining the active material on an electrode of a lead-acid battery. New or improved mats, separators, batteries, methods, and/or systems are also disclosed, shown, claimed, and/or provided. For example, in at least one possibly preferred embodiment, a composite separator is provided with a fibrous mat for retaining the active material on an electrode of a lead-acid battery. In at least one possibly particularly preferred embodiment, a PE membrane separator is provided with at least one fibrous mat for retaining the active material on an electrode of a lead-acid battery. In accordance with at least certain embodiments, aspects and/or objects, the present invention, application, or disclosure may provide solutions, new products, improved products, new methods, and/or improved methods, and/or may address issues, needs, and/or problems of PAM shedding, NAM shedding, electrode distortion, active material shedding, active material loss, and/or physical separation, electrode effectiveness, battery performance, battery life, and/or cycle life, and/or may provide new battery separators, new battery technology, and/or new battery methods and/or systems that address the challenges arising from current lead acid batteries or battery systems, especially new battery separators, new battery technology, and/or new battery methods and/or systems adapted to prevent or impede the shedding of active material from the electrodes, preferably or particularly in enhanced flooded lead acid batteries, PSoC batteries, ISS batteries, ESS batteries, and/or the like.

摘要: Porous filters having uniform pore size and close packing density are described, along with methods and apparatus for making the porous filters based on nanopatterning. One method includes applying a polymeric liquid to a mold consisting of an array of posts having a desired pore size and distribution. Solidification of polymeric membrane followed by separation from the mold produces a polymer membrane with a predetermined spaced array of pores. A pre-filter film can also be bonded with the membrane during formation to provide increased mechanical support and filtration of larger particles on the input side of the filter. Other process variants are described, including methods for incorporating additional functionalities to the filter.

摘要: The invention relates to a device, a method, and a kit for separating particles of different sizes in a liquid. The invention additionally relates to applications of the device. The device and the method involve the capability of binding particles to solid phase particles with different diameters in a liquid, whereby the hydrodynamic diameter of the solid-phase particles determines whether the particles can pass through pores of a filter element, the diameter of said pores being modifiable in a controlled manner (e.g., the diameter can be increased or decreased). Thus, particles of equal size (e.g., B-cells and T-cells) of a liquid can be separated from one another with a high degree of separation efficiency, wherein the particles can be separated simply, quickly, and inexpensively. High yields can be produced, and the particles can be provided in a therapeutically applicable liquid.

The present invention provides a polyolefin resin composition for a porous membrane, wherein the polyolefin resin composition includes 30 wt % to 70 wt % of a high-density polyethylene having a melt flow index (190° C., 2.16 kg load) of 0.1 g/10 min to 5 g/10 min, a crystallization temperature of 115° C. to 125° C., and a degree of crystallinity of 75% or greater, and 30 wt % to 70 wt % of a high-crystallinity polypropylene having a melt flow index (230° C., 2.16 kg load) of 5 g/10 min to 20 g/10 min.

摘要: A hydrophobic biofilm membrane modified with a spiropolyurethane may be used for desalination of salt water to fresh water. The spiropolyurethane component of the membrane can produce a hydrophobic spin membrane boundary which attracts saline water, and where the hydrophobic spin membrane boundary can comprise a hinge-like motion for capture of salt molecules via a loose pore-gate spongy membrane surface texture while allowing desalinated water to flow through the porous membrane. The membrane is useful in both reverse osmosis (RO) and membrane distillation (MD) separations, including the desalination.

摘要: A photodialysis device that can desalinate saline streams is described herein. The device can have a desalination rate that is significantly faster than current solar thermal desalination technology. Salt is removed from water by passing ionic current derived from sunlight through this water using dye-sensitized membranes. The device can serve as a distributed, low-cost technology that can efficiently and effectively desalinate low salinity sources of water, which is particularly useful for agriculture and drinking water applications.
