Abstract: The present disclosure provides a coating for battery separator, a preparation method thereof, a battery separator and a battery, where a coating slurry of the coating for the battery separator includes a dispersion medium, a nanomaterial, and a polymer containing polar functional groups; the coating has a surface pore size of 10 nm-30 nm, and a surface roughness of 200 nm-500 nm, and the coating has a hydroxyl content of 100 mg KOH/g-4000 mg KOH/g. The coating for battery separator, the preparation method thereof, the battery separator and the battery can solve a problem of deformation of battery separators due to the induction of electrolyte solutions.

Abstract: A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly and a pocket. Abstract: Improvements in the structural components and physical characteristics of lithium battery articles are provided. Standard lithium ion batteries, for example, are prone to certain phenomena related to short circuiting and have experienced high temperature occurrences and ultimate firing as a result. Structural concerns with battery components have been found to contribute to such problems. Improvements provided herein include the utilization of thin metallized current collectors (aluminum and/or copper, as examples), high shrinkage rate materials, materials that become nonconductive upon exposure to high temperatures, and combinations thereof. Such improvements accord the ability to withstand certain imperfections (dendrites, unexpected electrical surges, etc.) within the target lithium battery through provision of ostensibly an internal fuse within the subject lithium batteries themselves that prevents undesirable high temperature results from short circuits. Battery articles and methods of use thereof including such improvements are also encompassed within this disclosure.

Abstract: Provided is a separator for a lithium secondary battery including a porous substrate and a coating layer including a binder and inorganic particles formed on one surface or both surfaces of the porous substrate. The binder is a binder including: (a) a (meth)acrylamide-based monomer polymerization unit, (b) a (meth)acryl-based monomer polymerization unit containing a hydroxyl group, and (c) a polyfunctional (meth)acrylamide-based monomer polymerization unit. The separator according to the present invention provides a separator for a lithium secondary battery having improved adhesive strength between the inorganic particles and the separator, showing a decreased interfacial resistance characteristic, and showing an improved air permeability.

Abstract: A separator including a porous polymer substrate and an inorganic coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate. The inorganic coating layer includes inorganic particles and a binder resin. The binder resin includes a first binder resin and a second binder resin. The first binder resin comprises a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF)-based polymer and the second binder resin comprises an acrylic polymer. The acrylic polymer has an acid value of 1 or less and a glass transition temperature, Tg, of 90° C. to 130° C. In addition, the inorganic coating layer has a high content of binder resin at the top layer portion to provide excellent adhesion between the separator and an electrode.
