    摘要: A method is disclosed for making a lithium-ion electrochemical cell comprising elements of the lithium-ion electrochemical cell contained within an aluminum alloy or magnesium alloy single-cell container. External surfaces of the container are coated for resistance to water-based corrosion. Rolled or folded layers of anode, cathode, and separator elements of the lithium-ion cell are placed in the aluminum or magnesium alloy container. And, with the placed elements of the lithium-ion cell in the container, and during one or more following steps of a manufacturing assembly process of the lithium-ion cell, an atmospheric pressure plasma stream, initially comprising hexamethyldisiloxane, is applied to external surfaces of the aluminum alloy or magnesium alloy container to form a silicone polymer coating on the surfaces that protects the container from water-based corrosion. The method is useful in forming batteries for automotive vehicles exposed to salt water environments.

    摘要: Bondable fluorinated barrier coatings on oxidized metal surfaces. The barrier coatings include a perfluorinated silane having a C2-C30 alkyl chain with a reactive silicon end containing 1 to 3 leaving groups. The perfluorinated silane layer is covalently bonded to an underlying oxide layer and the outer surface is treated with an atmospheric-pressure plasma treatment. The resultant barrier coating exhibits corrosion resistance attributed to perfluorinated silanes but with enhanced bonding/adhesion properties.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process for the coating of objects made of valve metals selected from aluminum, magnesium, titanium, niobium and/or zirconium and their alloys with an oxide ceramic layer formed from the metal which has a thin barrier layer as a boundary layer towards the metal whose surface has been coated with polymers, characterized in that said polymers are introduced into the capillary system of the oxide ceramic layer in the form of dimers or halogenated dimers of general formula I wherein R1 represents one or more hydrogen or halogen residues; each R2 represents hydrogen or halogen; and R3 commonly represent a corresponding xylylene residue for completing a dimeric structure; by vacuum coating, followed by polymerizing the dimers.
