Abstract: An axle assembly for a low floor vehicle is described herein. The axle assembly includes an axle housing and a drive unit for driving a wheel assembly. The drive unit includes an axle shaft, a wheel end assembly, an electric machine, and a transmission unit. The axle shaft extends along an axle centerline axis between a first axle end and a second axle end. The wheel end assembly is coupled to the first axle end. The electric machine is positioned within the axle housing and includes a rotor shaft, a drive pinion coupled to the rotor shaft, and an electric motor for rotating the rotor shaft. The rotor shaft extends along a rotor shaft centerline axis that is orientated parallel to the axle centerline axis. The transmission unit is positioned within the axle housing and is configured to transfer torque from the electric machine to the axle shaft.

Abstract: A vehicle driving apparatus (1) integrates an electric motor (10) that is a drive source of a vehicle (100), a power conversion device (30) that is electrically connected to the electric motor (10), and a power transmission mechanism (50) that transmits rotation of power from the electric motor (10). An axial direction of a rotating shaft of the electric motor (10) is arranged in a vehicle width direction. The power conversion device (30) and the power transmission mechanism (50) are respectively arranged on one side and the other side of the electric motor (10) in the vehicle width direction. The power conversion device (30) is provided with a connector part (39) to which power wiring (40) is connected. The connector part (39) is arranged to draw out the power wiring (40) from the power conversion device (30) in the vehicle width direction.

Abstract: A planetary gearbox includes a first planetary stage with a component, a sun gear, and a planet gear meshing with the sun gear via a toothing system, a second planetary stage, and a lubricant transfer device arranged between the first planetary stage and the second planetary stage. The lubricant transfer device includes a discharge component arranged in a co-rotating manner on a component of the second planetary stage, and a receiving component designed to receive lubricant and arranged in a co-rotating manner on the component of the first planetary stage. A lubricant conduit communicates with the lubricant transfer device and is configured to extend over an entire axial extent of a tooth engagement region of the sun gear of the first planetary stage radially within the toothing system of the sun gear with the planet gear of the first planetary stage.

Abstract: A gear case of an in-wheel motor drive device houses first and second helical gears, has a first opening in its inner wall through which a motor main shaft passes, and has a second opening in its outer wall through which an axle passes. The in-wheel motor drive device further includes a first thrust bearing attached to the outer wall and supporting the first helical gear, and a second thrust bearing attached to the inner wall and supporting the second helical gear. The directions of helical teeth of the first and second helical gears are set so that when a motor vehicle travels forward, a thrust load directed outward in the vehicle width direction is applied to the first helical gear, and a thrust load directed toward the middle in the vehicle width direction is applied to the second helical gear.

Abstract: A gas turbine engine for an aircraft includes an engine core with a turbine, a compressor, and a core shaft connecting the turbine and compressor; a fan upstream of the engine core including a plurality of fan blades; and a gearbox that receives an input from a gearbox input shaft portion of the core shaft and outputs drive to a fan shaft so as to drive the fan at a lower rotational speed than the core shaft, the gearbox being an epicyclic gearbox including a sun gear, a plurality of planet gears, a ring gear, and a planet carrier arranged to have the plurality of planet gears mounted thereon, and wherein the sun gear receives input from the core shaft. At cruise conditions the torque on the core shaft is greater than 10,000 Nm and a ratio of core shaft stiffness to core shaft torque is within a specified range.
