摘要: The invention provides a controlled coefficient of thermal expansion alloy having in weight percent about 26-50% cobalt, about 20-40% nickel, about 20-35% iron, about 4-10% aluminum, about 0.5-5% niobium plus 1/2 of tantalum weight percent and about 1.5-10% chromium. Additionally the alloy may contain about 0-1% titanium, about 0-0.2% carbon, about 0-1% copper, about 0-2% manganese, about 0-2% silicon, about 0-8% molybdenum, about 0-8% tungsten, about 0-0.3% boron, about 0-2% rhenium, about 0-2% hafnium, about 0-0.3% zirconium, about 0-0.5% nitrogen, about 0-1% yttrium, about 0-1% lanthanum, about 0-1% total rare earths other than lanthanum, about 0-1% cerium, about 0-1% magnesium, about 0-1% calcium, about 0-4% oxidic dispersoid and incidental impurities. The alloy may be further optimized with respect to crack growth resistance by annealing at temperature below about 1010.degree. C. or temperatures between 1066.degree. C. or 1110.degree. C. and the melting temperature and by aging at a beta precipitation temperature greater than about 788.degree. C.

摘要: Alternating layers of N+ GaAs (80 .ANG.) and N+ Ga.sub.1-x Al.sub.x As (300 .ANG.), all heavily doped with a uniform flux of Sn, and biased by 2V, provide a multiple quantum-well heterojunction structure for infrared detection with cutoff wavelength established by the choice of the value x which defines the depth of the wells. Fine tuning of the cutoff wavelength may be achieved by varying the bias voltage. By biasing the individual quantum-well layers progressively through a voltage divider, an avalanche mechanism may be achieved in the detector for signal amplification. The detectors may be fabricated in large two-dimensional arrays.

摘要: A method for assembling microstructures onto a substrate through fluid transport. The microstructures being shaped blocks self-align into recessed regions located on a substrate such that the microstructure becomes integral with the substrate 20, 70, 90, 120, 200. The improved method includes a step of transferring the shaped blocks into a fluid to create a slurry. Such slurry is then poured evenly over the top surface of a substrate having recessed regions thereon. The microstructure via the shape and fluid tumbles onto the surface of the substrate, self-aligns, and engages into a recessed region.

摘要: An oxidation resistant alloy containing iron, cobalt, nickel and at least 4 to 5% by weight aluminum having at least a duplex crystalline structure. One crystalline component of this structure is a gamma (fcc) phase having a gamma prime phase dispersed therein. The second crystalline component is enriched in aluminum compared to the first crystalline component and exhibits characteristics under X-ray diffraction and electron diffraction analysis of a BCC B2 structured phase.

摘要: A track conversion unit for wheel-driven tractors in which the forward steerable wheels and their axle of the wheel tractor are removed from the wheeled tractor and replaced with tandem wheel units respectively secured to the forward end of the tractor--one at each side--by a bracket attachment for connection therewith. These tandem wheel units include two inflated tires with tread and at each side of the tractor, a crawler track extends about these inflated tires from a regular large size treaded rear drive wheel of the tractor for the purpose of being driven in crawler-like fashion over snowbound and rough terrain areas. With the steerable wheels detached, the tractor with the crawler track treads will be dependent upon the trailing equipment for steering the tractor, which steering equipment will be connected through hydraulic means with the steering wheel of the tractor to be available to the driver.

Each fastening means (M) includes an elongated tubular shank (12) extending from the cover (10) to an open end (12e). Each tubular shank (12) is hollow, having an inner bore (12b) substantially from the cover (10) to the open end (12 e). The length of tubular shank (12) is shorter than the length of the bolt holes (14) which extend through the flange to avoid inadvertent unseating of the protector.
