    摘要: A diagnostic device is provided that comprises a light source for transmitting a light beam through a blood sample to a light detector, and a permanent magnet, wherein one of the permanent magnet and blood sample is automatically movable relative to the other between a “HIGH” magnetic state position and a “LOW” magnetic state position, such that a substantially high magnetic field is applied to the blood sample causing any hemozoin in the blood sample to tend toward perpendicular orientation to the substantially magnetic field and the suppression, or enhancement of light based on its polarization, and a zero-to-near-zero magnetic field is applied to the blood sample causing the randomization of any hemozoin in the blood sample and a baseline amount of light to pass through the blood sample in the “LOW” magnetic state position.

    摘要: An improved luminometer, chamber insert, and deactivator is shown and described. In one embodiment, the device comprises a luminometer for use with a test sample holder and is configured to determine the emitted light from the test sample holder. Typically, the luminometer includes a housing having a sample port, a photomultiplier assembly, and a chamber having a mirrored inner side face. In certain examples, an improved chamber for a luminometer comprises an insert portion, a photomultiplier portion, and a deactivator.

    摘要: A fluid concentration measuring device measures the concentration of a fluid flowing through a duct having a light-transmissive, deformable duct wall. The device includes a light source; a light receiving element which receives the light, which passed through the wall of the duct and the fluid inside the duct, and outputs a signal indicating the intensity of the light; light path distance setting means and fluid concentration output means which obtains a plurality of relational expressions, which indicate the relation between the light intensity and the fluid concentration when the light from the light supply part is received by the light receiving part over each of the light path distances, and obtains the fluid concentration from the light intensity at the light receiving part based on the relational expressions for the plurality of light path distances and outputs the fluid concentration.

    摘要: A system for detecting volcanic plumes using a camera on an aircraft, a distant point-like source of light, and a computerized method of processing images acquired by the camera to detect phenomena indicative of the presence of volcanic plumes in a volume of space intersected by light from the light source. A computer system is programmed to determine whether the image data from the camera has characteristics indicating that the imaged light had passed through a volcanic plume or not. In response to detection of a volcanic plume in the flight path of an aircraft, the computer system outputs an alert activation signal to an alert device that produces a visible or audible alert.

    摘要: An optoelectronic sensor (10) has a circumferential front screen (42) comprising a curvature both in a circumferential direction and in a transverse height, thus focusing light reflected at the inside of the front screen (42). Test light passes from a test light transmitter (50a-f) through the front screen (42) to a reflector (52a-f) and subsequently onto a test light receiver (56a-b). A decreasing light transmissivity of the front screen (42) is detected based on a decrease of a signal generated by the test light in the test light receiver (56a-b). The test light receiver (56a-b) is arranged on a same side of the front screen (42) as the reflector (52a-f) such that the test light path (54a-f) leads from the reflector (52a-f) via reflection on the inside of the front screen (42) to the test light receiver (56a-b).
