Abstract:
A fluidic testing system is presented that includes a plurality of test chambers, a plurality of inlet channels, and a fluidic network that connects the inlet channels to one or more other chambers. The plurality of test chambers are each characterized by a length and a hydraulic diameter. The length of each test chamber is aligned substantially parallel to a gravity vector. Each of the test chambers has only one opening disposed along the length of the corresponding test chamber. Additionally, each of the test chambers is coupled via its respective opening to only one of the plurality of inlet channels.

Abstract:
A biochip for multiplex genetic identification is disclosed. An biochip for separating and detecting a plurality of DNA fragments includes a set of inputs and chambers for receiving a sample matrix of genetic material and reagents needed to conduct a polymerase chain reaction amplification of the genetic material. The biochip also includes a plurality of separation and detection chambers that physically separate different DNA fragments that have been marked with labels that emit similar colors, thereby enabling the independent detection of the different DNA fragments.
Abstract:
An analyzing device includes: an operation cavity (245) that is adjacent to a first reserving cavity (243) retaining a sample liquid, in a circumferential direction of rotational driving; a connecting section (255) provided on a side wall of the first reserving cavity (243) to suck the sample liquid by a capillary force and transfer the sample liquid to the operation cavity (245); and second reserving cavities (247, 248) that are disposed outside the operation cavity (245) in the circumferential direction of the rotational driving and communicate with the outermost position of the operation cavity (245) through a connecting passage (256). The connecting section (255) is circumferentially extended farther than the liquid level of the sample liquid retained in the first reserving cavity (243). Thus it is possible to reduce the quantity of the sample liquid, eliminate irregular agitation of a sample liquid and reagents, and reduce the size of an analyzing device.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a disc-like assay chip, and more specifically, the present invention provides an assay chip which can effectively clean a cleaned object existing in a fluid loop, and can be appropriately applied to a detection method of a reaction system using a step of necessarily cleaning the cleaned object, such as an immunofluorescent antibody method, and applied to a detection method using an enzymatic reaction (especially, an ELISA method). The present invention further provides a disc-like assay chip which is mounted on a centrifugal device such as a rotational disc and can perform detection or quantitation on a target substance through optical measurement after a specimen and a reagent react by use of a centrifugal force generated by rotation of the centrifugal device.
Abstract:
The invention provides an improved instrument for automation of solid phase extraction chemistries typically used in biotechnology labs. The instrument includes a mechanism for transferring samples dissolved in a liquid from initial containers to reaction columns that are used to perform solid phase extractions. Samples, reaction columns and collection containers are in microtiter plate format or tubes that are on 18 millimeter centers. The transfer system is automatically cleaned after use in preparation for the next use. A dispense manifold is used to dispense various reagents into the reaction columns. Pressure differential is used to move reagents through reaction columns. A sliding cover is used to divert the reagent exiting reaction columns to waste or allowing collection of sample as it exits outlets of reaction columns. Samples are automatically collected in microtiter plates or in individual tubes or vials.
Abstract:
A device used to test the analyte in a liquid sample includes a test chamber used to contain test components, a collecting chamber used to collect liquid sample, a piston chamber between the test chamber and the collecting chamber, a piston and an opening. The piston has two positions in the piston chamber, i.e. the first position and the second position. When the piston is in the first position, liquid can flow between the piston cavity and the collecting chamber through the opening; during the piston's move from the first position to the second position, the opening is sealed by the piston, wherein while the opening is sealed by the piston, the liquid is released from the piston cavity to the test chamber. This device can help to precisely quantify a liquid sample, with higher accuracy in the tests and higher comfort during the operations.
