Abstract: A signal information distribution system is configured to distribute, to vehicles, signal information including a lighting start time and a lighting continuation interval of each of a plurality of signal lights installed at an intersection, each signal light being configured to light in a predetermined color. The system includes: a storage unit configured to store a timing table including scheduled lighting intervals of the plurality of signal lights; a monitor unit configured to observe lighting and extinction of the plurality of signal lights; a generation unit configured to generate the signal information, based on an actual lighting interval, of a predetermined signal light, obtained from an observation result of the predetermined signal light, and on the scheduled lighting interval, of the predetermined signal light, included in the timing table; and a distribution unit configured to distribute, to the vehicles, the signal information generated by the generation unit.

Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, with the customer's permission, a vehicle operator in an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be determined by a sensor disposed within the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle or a mobile computing device associated with the vehicle operator. A determination may be made as to whether the vehicle operator is authorized to operate the vehicle based upon the determined identity of the vehicle operator; and if the vehicle operator is not authorized, an alert may be generated and/or the vehicle may be caused to not operate. Alternatively, autonomous operation features may be automatically engaged to automatically drive the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle to a safe location when the operator is not authorized. Insurance discounts may be provided based upon the anti-theft functionality.

Abstract: A method for determining space allocation and signal timing of an isolated signalized intersection consists of at least one remote server and a processing module that is communicably coupled with the at least one remote server. A plurality of traffic-related data, wherein the plurality of traffic-related data reflects activity at the isolated signalized intersection, is received through the processing module. A space determination process is performed on the plurality of traffic-related data through the processing module. Next, a timing determination process is performed on the plurality of traffic-related data through the processing module in order to minimize the average intersection delay at the isolated signalized intersection. Based upon the results from the space determination process and the timing determination process a cycle length is determined for the isolated signalized intersection.

Abstract: A database of high risk locations is formed and high risk causal factors for the high risk locations determined. Driver behavior is monitored at the sites in the database using data collection devices such as electronic logging devices or mobile phones to see if the drivers exhibit the same specific behaviors that are considered contributing factors to specific accident types at risk of occurrence at those sites. Warnings are provided to drivers approaching the specific sites to prompt behavioral changes which may further be monitored by the data collection devices.

Abstract: Techniques for determining that a first vehicle is associated with a reverse state, and controlling a second vehicle based on the reverse state, are described herein. In some examples, the first vehicle may provide an indication that the first vehicle will be executing a reverse maneuver, such as with reverse lights on the vehicle or by positioning at an angle relative to a road or parking space to allow for the reverse maneuver into a desired location. A planning system of the second vehicle (such as an autonomous vehicle) may receive sensor data and determine a variety of these indications to determine a probability that the vehicle is going to execute a reverse maneuver. The second vehicle can further determine a likely trajectory of the reverse maneuver and can provide appropriate accommodations (e.g., time and/or space) to allow the second vehicle to execute the maneuver safely and efficiently.

Abstract: Vehicles in traffic cannot coordinate their actions properly in 5G and 6G without knowing the location and the wireless address of the other vehicle. GNSS signals are generally too slow and too imprecise to discern vehicles in, for example, adjacent lanes. Directional wireless beams are subject to reflections from conducting surfaces, producing chaotic signals and false locations if more than one vehicle is within the transmission beam. To provide precise localization in traffic, methods are disclosed for multiple vehicles (or other mobile devices) to acquire satellite signals simultaneously, and then analyze the data differentially, thereby canceling major uncertainties (such as propagation variations, ephemeris motion, and clock jitter), and thereby determining the relative positions precisely. Unlike prior-art “precision” positioning methods, the disclosed methods do not require averaging multiple acquisitions. On the contrary, examples show how high differential precision can be obtained without averaging, using measurements acquired at the predetermined time.
