Abstract: A monitoring system may include a memory having computer-readable instructions stored thereon and a processor operatively coupled to the memory. The processor may read and execute the computer-readable instructions to perform or control performance of operations. The operations may include receive, prior to a collision involving a vehicle, sensor data representative of a feature of an internal environment and determine the collision has occurred. The operations may include automatically instruct, based on the collision, a sensor to generate another sensor data representative of another feature of the internal environment. The operations may include receive the another sensor data from the sensor and compare the sensor data and the another sensor data to accident data corresponding to previous accidents. The accident data may include a diagnosed injury and an accident severity of each of the previous accidents. The operations may include determine a severity of the collision based on the comparison.

Abstract: A computing system can wirelessly connect with a computing device of a driver of a vehicle while the driver is within the vehicle. The system can determine, based on being wirelessly connected with the computing device of the driver, that the driver of the vehicle is using the computing device, and using a vehicle monitoring system of the vehicle while the vehicle is moving, the system can process sensor data from at least one sensor of the vehicle monitoring system to detect an object ahead of the vehicle. Based on detecting the object and determining that the driver is using the computing device, the system can output an alert to the computing device of the driver.

Abstract: A method for operating a driver assistance system for a vehicle includes capturing a video feed of an external environment of the vehicle and transmitting the video feed to an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) of the vehicle. Subsequently, a designated speed limit for the vehicle at a current location of the vehicle is determined. The method further includes extracting context information of the external environment from the video feed and comparing the context information to the designated speed limit to create a contextual speed limit. A user is notified of the vehicle of the contextual speed limit. The context information designates a specific environment that the vehicle is located in based upon one or more of: first warning information that informs the user of unsafe driving conditions, first guidance information that provides directional information to the user, and objects located in the specific environment of the vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for classifying one or more images of video data captured by a camera in a vehicle. The classification involves a detection of a traffic control device, such as a U-Turn sign, in image data. The classification further involves querying a database with a location of the vehicle from which the traffic control device was observed. In some embodiments, the database contains entries for various types of traffic control devices from a family of traffic control devices, where each type of traffic control device in the family has a similar visual appearance. The database query may therefore help disambiguate the visually perceived traffic control device at a particular location. Embodiments may be incorporated into navigation or driver safety systems.

Abstract: A driving assistance apparatus includes a controller programmed to perform a deceleration assistance process of assisting in decelerating a vehicle before the vehicle arrives at a deceleration object, and to control a display apparatus to display, in a first display area, first notification information for notifying an occupant of the vehicle of the deceleration object that is a target for the deceleration assistance process. When a first object and a second object that is different from the first object are both detected as the deceleration object and the second object is the target for the deceleration assistance process but the first object is not the target for the deceleration assistance process, the controller is programmed to control the display apparatus to display, in a second display area, second notification information for notifying the occupant of the first object, the second display area is different from the first display area.

Abstract: Provided are a lane separation line detection correcting device/method and an automatic driving system for stabilizing the behavior of a vehicle by correcting overestimated curvature information resulting from an erroneous detection of a curvature of a lane separation line. A travel speed detecting circuit detects, for example, a target travel speed as vehicle sensor information. A maximum curvature estimating circuit estimates, based on the target travel speed, a maximum curvature of a road along which an own vehicle is traveling. A curvature correcting circuit corrects a curvature of a lane separation line input thereto based on the maximum curvature. A control unit controls steering of the own vehicle based on the lane separation line having a corrected curvature. As a result, vehicle steering can be automatically controlled so as to prevent the own vehicle while traveling from departing from a driving lane.

Abstract: A vehicle navigation system may comprise a memory including instructions and circuitry configured by the instructions to identify a target vehicle in an environment of a vehicle that includes the vehicle navigation system. The circuitry may receive image data of the target vehicle from an image capture device of the vehicle; identify, based on analysis of the image data, a situational characteristic of the target vehicle including an indication that the target vehicle is traveling behind an additional vehicle traveling slower than the target vehicle; and change a navigational state of the vehicle to allow an action of the target vehicle. The vehicle may be configured to cause the change in the navigational state based on a determination that the situational characteristic indicates that the target vehicle would benefit from the change in the navigational state.
