    Abstract: As part of an emergency response, a region in which communications may be affected by the emergency may be identified and used to prioritize communication by responders to the emergency. When an emergency is identified with a location, a priority communication region may be determined along with a set of identifiers corresponding to devices operated by emergency responders. Such responders may typically receive normal priority in the communications network. When the emergency is active, the location of responders' devices is monitored and when the devices are within the priority communication region the devices may be assigned a higher priority level of service in the communications network. When these devices leave the priority communication region or the emergency ends, the priority of the devices may be returned to a normal priority level for the devices.

    Abstract: A communication terminal includes a terminal communicator configured to perform radio communication with a base station, and a terminal controller configured to control the terminal communicator. The terminal controller causes the terminal communicator to transmit a first message of the radio communication to the base station without including, in the first message, specific terminal information indicating that the communication terminal is a specific communication terminal use of which is possibly restricted by the base station, receives a second message as a response to the first message from the base station via the terminal communicator, includes the specific terminal information in a subsequent message that is a third message or is a message subsequent to the third message as a response to the second message, and causes the terminal communicator to transmit the subsequent message to the base station.

    Abstract: This application provides a communication method and a communication apparatus. The method performed by a relay terminal includes: determining that a network accessed by the relay terminal supports an emergency service, and sending a first message for a remote terminal discovering the relay terminal. The first message is a first discovery message including a relay service code corresponding to the emergency service; or the first message is a response message to a second discovery message including a relay service code corresponding to the emergency service from the remote terminal. This method can ensure that a network accessed by a relay terminal participating in a relay discovery procedure of the emergency service supports the emergency service, thereby ensuring that a relay terminal selected by a remote terminal that expects to access the emergency service can provide a relay service for the emergency service.

    Abstract: An improved emergency response method and system are shown and described. A content-specified text field-such as a caller name field—an ALI database record for a communication device is updated to include information about a person experiencing an emergency and the emergency. A PSAP receiving an emergency services call from the communication device receives the caller name field on a terminal display and is thus informed about the emergency via a alphanumeric character communication rather than orally. A particular emergency may be assigned a code that is put in the caller name field. A PSAP operator receiving the emergency services call may then enter the code into an emergency services web interface to retrieve information about the emergency including service provider credentials, the person's medical condition, the person's medical records, real time physiologic data, treatment facility names, treatment facility types, a location of the emergency, a level of care, a videoconference web link, on-site personnel names, disaster information, and hazard information. The code can be transmitted to first responders and downstream medical professionals to enhance their ability to deliver emergency services. The system and method provide a means for legacy PSAPs to receive the benefits of Next Generation 911 systems without the infrastructure changes that would otherwise be required.

    Abstract: An article of personal protective equipment (PPE) includes a plurality of communication circuits corresponding to a plurality of communication channels, and a controller communicably coupled to the communication circuits. The controller is further configured to determine a signal strength of the communication channels and generate available connections data for the communication channels. The controller is further configured to determine corresponding data types of the data signals. The controller is further configured to determine available communication channels, select at least one available communication channel based on at least the corresponding data types of the data signals, and select at least one communication circuit corresponding to the at least one available communication channel, such that the at least one communication circuit receives the data signals and transmits the data signals to one or more external devices over the at least one available communication channel.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a system for securely providing the location information of an electronic device. The system comprises a server arrangement communicatively coupled to the electronic device. The server arrangement is configured to: obtain location information and associated permissions pertaining to an electronic device, the location information being encrypted by the electronic device; determine access rights for the electronic device based on the permissions provided by the electronic device; receive a request from an entity to access the location information; determine whether the entity is authorized to access the location information; decrypt the location information of the electronic device if the entity is authorized to access the location information; and provide the decrypted location information to the entity.
