    摘要: Biopolymeric array scanners that are capable of automatically selecting a dye specific scale factor to employ for a plurality of different dyes, as wells as methods for making and using the same, are provided. In many embodiments, the actual dye specific scale factor automatically selected by the scanner is one that is equal to a preset “master” scale factor, so that the scanner reads any supported dye using the same constant scale factor. The dye specific scale factor selection is typically made by reference to a collection of nominal scale factors for each member of the plurality of dyes. In using the subject scanners, a user simply inputs the one or more dyes being used in a given array assay, and the scanner automatically reads the array using an automatically chosen dye specific scale factor for the selected dyes. Also provided are methods of obtaining collections of nominal scale factors and computer readable mediums comprising the same. The subject invention finds use in a variety of different applications, including both genomics and proteomics applications.

    摘要: The present invention provides microdevices for electrochemical detection of target agents in a fluid sample. The microdevices each comprise an elongated microstructure having an inlet for introduction of a fluid sample potentially containing a target agent, and an outlet to allow the sample to flow through the region of the microdevice that allows detection of the target agent. This detection is mediated through hybridization of nucleic acids corresponding to a target agent with device-associated nucleic acids and subsequent binding of an electrochemical detection agent to allow the transfer of an electron to or from the electrode. In specific embodiment, the device comprises: a hollow elongated microstructure with a conductive surface on the internal surface; b) insulating polymer that is uniformly distributed on the conductive surface; c) adapter molecule associated with the insulating polymer, and d) a plurality of associated nucleic acids conjugated to the polymer surface in a specific orientation.

    摘要: Generally, the present invention provides a device and method for accurately locating a multi-well plate at a plate-support location, e.g., a work surface, of an automated laboratory machine, such that one or more acting members of the machine, such as an array of pipette tips, optical sensors, or the like, can accurately address and operate on the individual wells. Interior and/or exterior surface regions of one or more wells of a multi-well plate are used as the primary plate features engaged by locating structure of the machine. In one particular embodiment one or more upwardly tapered projections extend from a plate-support surface of a plate-handling machine for mating engagement with the exterior surface regions of one or more wells. In another embodiment, the exterior surface regions along one or more well bottoms are engagingly received within bores, or other receiving structure, formed on the plate-support surface of a machine. In a further embodiment, one or more downwardly extending projections depend from an acting-member support, along with the acting members of a machine. Introduction of the projections into some of the wells of a multi-well plate serves to align the acting members with the plate's other wells. A biasing assembly can be used to press together the engaging surface regions of the wells and the locating structures of the machine.
