Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe methods, systems, and devices for facilitating transfer of user equipment (UE) handover in multi-cell networks. A source evolved node B (eNB) may transmit an autonomous handover grant to a UE along with an indication of a target eNB. The source eNB may also make a handover request to the target eNB and provide a UE context to the target eNB. Upon transmission of a handover command, the UE may perform a random access channel procedure to connect to the target eNB. Because the eNB may have the UE context (or may be able to fetch the context), the handover time may be lessened. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to communicate with an one or more extended transmission reception points (TRPs) is disclosed. The UE can signal a transceiver of the UE to simultaneously broadcast two or more transmission beams to establish a connection with one or more of an extended eNodeB or one or more extended transmission reception points (TRP), wherein each extended TRP is connected to the UE via an extended interface with the extended eNodeB. The UE can decode, at the UE, higher layer signaling received from the one or more extended TRPs to form beam association, beam addition, beam release, beam change, or a combination thereof between the UE and the one or more extended TRPs.

Abstract: User equipment (UE), an enhanced NodeB (eNB) and method of reducing handover latency are generally described. The UE may transmit measurement feedback to the eNB based on control signals. The UE may receive a reconfiguration message from the eNB or another eNB to the UE is attached. The reconfiguration message may contain reconfiguration information indicating whether or not a physical layer or layer 2 of the UE is to be reconfigured and/or a security key is to be updated. The reconfiguration information may be dependent on whether the handover is between eNBs controlled by a same entity and/or whether the handover comprises an intra-frequency transition. The UE or eNB may initiate handover of the UE. During handover the UE may avoid physical layer or layer 2 reconfiguration or the security key update. The security key and data for the UE may be provided directly between the eNBs.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) to support dual-connectivity with a Master Evolved Node-B (MeNB) and a Secondary eNB (SeNB) are disclosed herein. The UE may receive downlink traffic packets from the MeNB and from the SeNB as part of a split data radio bearer (DRB). At least a portion of control functionality for the split DRB may be performed at each of the MeNB and the SeNB. The UE may receive an uplink eNB indicator for an uplink eNB to which the UE is to transmit uplink traffic packets as part of the split DRB. Based at least partly on the uplink eNB indicator, the UE may transmit uplink traffic packets to the uplink eNB as part of the split DRB. The uplink eNB may be selected from a group that includes the MeNB and the SeNB.

Abstract: Technology for supporting dual connectivity is disclosed. A user equipment (UE) may receive a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message from a macro evolved node B (MeNB). The RRC reconfiguration message may indicate that a secondary cell associated with a secondary eNB (SeNB) is to be added for connection to the UE. The UE may complete an RRC reconfiguration procedure to add the secondary cell. The UE may send a preamble to the SeNB indicating that the UE has completed the RRC reconfiguration procedure. The UE may communicate data with the SeNB after sending the preamble to the SeNB, wherein the UE supports dual connectivity to the MeNB and the SeNB.

Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) device operates to directly determine a target small cell for access or handover with the assistance of a macro cell network. The UE directly generates the connection and selects which small cell to access from among a subset of small cells chosen of a set of candidate small cells. The UE is provided dedicated assistance information from the evolved node B (eNB) or macro network device. The dedicated assistance information enables the UE to measure data from the candidate small cells within a heterogeneous network environment. The UE shares the measured data and connects directly to the selected small cell for an access or handover operation.

Abstract: Embodiments of UE and methods for measurement of Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ) are generally described herein. The UE may be configured to determine an RSRQ of a serving cell and an RSRQ of a target cell based on an indicated RSRQ measurement type. The measurement type may be received as part of a measurement configuration Information Element (IE) that indicates a first or second RSRQ measurement type. For the first RSRQ measurement type, the RSRQ may be determined based on a Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) over common reference signals (CRS). For the second RSRQ measurement type, the RSRQ may be determined based on an RSSI that is based on a received power of one or more Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbols received at the UE.

Abstract: Technology for communicating security key information from a macro eNB is disclosed. Security key information associated with the macro evolved node B (eNB) may be determined. The security key information may be used to cipher information communicated at the first eNB. A small eNB may be identified at the macro eNB to generate the security key information associated with the macro eNB for ciphering information communicated at the second eNB. The security key information may be communicated, from the macro eNB, to the small eNB for inter-Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (EUTRA) evolved node B (eNB) carrier aggregation.
