摘要:
A method of analyzing a composition including live crude includes separating the composition into a vapor phase and a liquid phase. A composition of the vapor phase is determined with a gas chromatograph. At least a portion of the liquid phase is deposited in a vessel, and a headspace vapor phase is collected from the vessel. A composition of the headspace vapor is determined with the gas chromatograph.

To provide a method and a device for separating object substances from a mixture without requiring an ultrasonic generator and a centrifugal separator. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] In this method of separating the object substances from the mixture by using a first solvent and a second solvent, the first solvent and the second solvent are reversibly changed from a state of being separated into two phases to a state of being mutually dissolved into one phase by changing their temperatures. The upstream portion and the center portion of a column including the first solvent are held in a temperature range in which the solvents are mutually dissolved into one phase, and the downstream portion of the column is held in a temperature range in which the solvents are separated into two phases. The second solvent in which the mixture is dissolved is changed from the upstream portion of the column into the column, and the separated second solvent phase is taken out from the downstream portion of the column.

A highly selective, sensitive, fast detection system and method are disclosed for detecting vapors of specific compounds in air. Vapors emanating from compounds such as explosives, or stripped from surfaces using heat and suction from a hand-held sample gun, are collected on surfaces coated with gas chromatograph (GC) material which trap explosives vapors but repel nitric oxide, then are desorbed and concentrated in one or more cold spot concentrators. A high speed gas chromatograph (GC) separates the vapors, after which specific vapors are decomposed in two pyrolyzers arranged in parallel and the resulting nitric oxide is detected. A low temperature pyrolyzer with silver produces NO from nitramines or nitrite esters; a high temperature pyrolyzer decomposes all explosives vapors to permit detection of the remaining explosives. Also disclosed is a series arrangement of pyrolyzers and gas chromatographs and an NO detector to time-shift detection of certain vapors and facilitate very fast GC analyses. The use of hydrogen as a carrier gas, plus unique collectors and concentrators, high speed heaters, NO detectors, and very fast, temperature-programmable GC's enhance selectivity, sensitivity and speed of detection.

A test method for the determination of methanol in crude oils to levels as low as 0.5 ppm is disclosed. The method includes extracting methanol into a water phase from a test sample of the crude oil forming a test sample extract. The method further includes extracting methanol into a water phase from a reference sample of the crude oil forming a reference sample extract, wherein the reference sample having a predetermined amount of methanol added thereto. The method further includes measuring the methanol content in the test sample extract and the methanol content in the reference sample extract. The method also includes determining the methanol content of the crude oil based upon the methanol content in the test sample extract and the methanol content in the reference sample extract.

The present disclosure relates to a method for sampling a fluid, such as air. As fluid flows through a device, a scrubbing liquid is positioned in a pattern to contact the fluid and constituents in the fluid are transferred to in the liquid.

The liquid separator with integral sight glass separates liquids, if present, from gases and allows a technician to visually confirm the presence or absence of liquids in the gas. The present invention is typically used when taking a spot sample from a natural gas pipeline. Spot samples of natural gas are often analyzed by gas chromatographs which do not tolerate the presence of liquids in a sample. If the technician visually confirms the presence of liquids, adjustments to the spot sampling technique can be made to possibly eliminate the creation of such liquids due to poor technique.

In a denuder (2) serving as a gas collection apparatus, an absorption liquid supply tube (4) for spraying absorption liquid from a nozzle (4a) to the inner wall of a denuder pipe (2a) is provided at the upper portion of the denuder pipe (2a). A sample atmospheric air supply tube (7) for supplying sample atmospheric air into the denuder (2) is provided at the lower portion of the denuder pipe (2a). On the inner wall of the denuder pipe (2a) is formed a photocatalyst thin film layer (13) containing photocatalyst which is optically excited to be made super-hydrophilic upon irradiation of light having specific wavelengths (for example, ultraviolet rays) thereto.
