摘要: An improved version of the capillary bridge viscometer that compensates for the effect of solvent compressibility is disclosed. A novel, yet simple and inexpensive modification to a conventional capillary bridge viscometer design can improve its ability to reject pump pulses by more than order of magnitude. This improves the data quality and allows for the use of less expensive pumps. A pulse compensation volume is added such that it transmits pressure to the differential pressure transducer without sample flowing there through. The pressure compensation volume enables the cancelation of the confounding effects of pump pulses in a capillary bridge viscometer.

摘要: Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to gaseous mercury detection systems, calibration systems, and related methods. The gaseous mercury detection systems are configured to detect gas-phase mercury-compounds present in ambient air. For example, the gaseous mercury detection systems collect gas-phase mercury-compounds from ambient air and release the gas-phase mercury-compounds at concentrations capable of being measured by a gas-chromatography mass spectrometer without heating the gas-phase mercury-compounds above a decomposition temperature of at least one gaseous mercury compound that may present in the mercury-containing gas. The calibration systems are configured to determine an accuracy of or calibrate a gaseous mercury detection system. The disclosed calibration systems may be integrated with or distinct from the gaseous mercury detection systems disclosed herein.

摘要: A method for fractionating a sample solution includes the steps of setting a first mass spectrometry condition and mass range information; setting a second mass spectrometry condition and mass range information; executing a mass scan by the mass spectrum acquisition portion under the first mass spectrometry condition and obtaining first mass spectrum data; extracting first chromatogram data from the first mass spectrum data based on the first mass range information; executing a mass scan by the mass spectrum acquisition portion under the second mass spectrometry condition to obtain second mass spectrum data; extracting second chromatogram data from the second mass spectrum data based on the second mass range information; switching the first and second spectrometry conditions and repeating the mass scan cyclically; adding the first and second chromatograph data to obtain a chromatogram data; and operating the fraction collector based on the chromatogram data.

摘要: Signals obtained in capillary High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) are notoriously noisy. The signal can be improved by increasing the path length of the light passing through the sample stream, but increased path length decreases resolution (resolving N closely spaced peaks in the actual separation into N peaks of almost equal separation on the chromatogram. A novel approach is to operate on segments of the chromatogram signal, averaging, integrating, or correlating the data within the segment. This approach may be utilized with analog or digital signals. The important information, contained in the integrated, summed or correlated signal, will increase the chromatographic signal relative to the noise information.

The signal can be improved by increasing the path length of the light passing through the sample stream, but increased path length decreases resolution (resolving N closely spaced peaks in the actual separation into N peaks of almost equal separation on the chromatogram. A novel approach is to utilize a number of photocell sensors lined up along a capillary through which the solution passes. In one embodiment of this invention, the flow of the solution is stopped with the solvent spike oriented with a particular photocell sensor. Then a single, continuous scan or multiple scans of a section of the quiescent solution may be taken and integrated, summed, or statistically correlated. In another embodiment, a solvent spike is detected and tracked. A set of photocell sensors is chosen at increments of time such that the leading photocell is at the solvent spike. The set of photocells is scanned repeatedly. The important information, contained in the integrated, summed or correlated signal, will increase the chromatographic signal relative to the noise information. In this way, the effective path length is increased without including any moving parts or significant loss of resolution.

摘要: In a liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer, chromatogram data is obtained by carrying out alternately a mass scanning in a positive ion detection mode and a mass scanning in a negative ion detection mode, obtaining the chromatogram data in every positive and negative polarities through summing up the mass spectrum data obtained at the respective mass scannings, and adding the data of both polarities. Since the chromatograms in both polarities are averaged, even if there is a level difference therebetween, a chromatogram in a normal form can be obtained.
