    摘要: The spinning disc centrifuge rotor includes a sample holder formed from a cylindrical disc body and a cover plate that are made from a transparent material, such as polycarbonate. The disc-shaped body has two concentric or coaxial recesses defined therein. The first recess forms a cylindrical well or sample chamber for receiving a generally cylindrical rock sample. The second recess has a larger diameter than the first recess, and is shallower, forming a fluid collection area above the sample well, the second recess forming an annular ring extending around the top edge or rim of the sample well. An O-ring snugly within the outer wall of the second recess and forms a seal between the cover plate and the floor of the second recess, preventing fluid leakage. A rotor shaft extends from the bottom face of the cylindrical disc.

    摘要: A method and four devices for measuring the change in mass of a sample subjected to selected temperatures and fluid variables is disclosed. The test sample is subjected to centrifugal force to apply the "apparent mass" of the sample by rotating the sample about a first axis of rotation. Any change in the mass of the test sample is then amplified by the centrifugal force and measured by the displacement of the sample about a second axis of rotation. The above method and four separate devices are disclosed. The first device balances the mass of the test sample against a known reference sample. The second device generates a counter-rotational force about the second axis to bring the sample to a "nulled" position. The third device balances the force generated about the second axis against a known and adjustable balance beam. A reciprocating means is used to couple the balance beam to a rotating sample holder. The fourth device generates a counter force along the balance beam to bring the sample to a "nulled" position. The devices are particularly adapted for mass change analysis in high temperature environments using high sweep gas rates and a variety of gaseous fluids.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for continuously and simultaneously determining the density, velocity and Fanning friction factor, and thus the viscosity, of a flowing fluid. The fluid is caused to flow through a conduit having a curved portion. Pressure transducers positioned in the curved portion of the conduit determine the difference in pressure between the fluid adjacent the inside and the outside of the curved portion of the conduit. Additional pressure transducers are positioned in the conduit at selected, equal distances upstream and downstream of the transducers located in the curved portion of the conduit. The differences in pressure in the fluid between these upstream and downstream locations and between the upstream and downstream locations and the curved portion of the conduit are determined. These pressure determinations are utilized in equations according to this invention to determine the desired parameters of density, flow velocity and viscosity.

    摘要: A densimeter for measuring the density of liquids is disclosed. The densimeter comprises a substantially vertical shaft having a central axis. The densimeter further comprises means for rotating the shaft about its axis and a vessel mounted on the shaft asymmetrically with respect to the shaft axis. Counterbalancing means are provided on the shaft for at least partly compensating for the asymmetry. The shaft is resiliently mounted with freedom of oscillation transverse to the shaft axis. Means are provided for measuring the amplitude of the oscillations.
