The invention relates to monomers derived from perhalogenated sultones, to a process for their preparation, to the polymers obtained from the said monomers and to their use for the production of ion-conductive materials.The monomers are compounds corresponding to the formula A--CFX--SO.sub.2 Z in which A denotes one groups [sic] R.sup.3 --O--CF.sub.2 -- or R.sup.3 -- or R.sup.1 R.sup.2 N--CO--; Z denotes F, Cl, --OSi(CH.sub.3).sub.3 or an ionic group, Z being other than F when A denotes R.sup.3 --O--CF.sub.2 -- or R.sup.3 --; X denotes F, Cl, H or R.sub.F, X being R.sub.F when A denotes R.sup.3 --; the radicals R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are chosen from polymerizable nonperfluorinated organic radicals; R.sub.F is chosen from perfluoroalkyl radicals and perfluoroaryl radicals.The polymers obtained from these monomers can be employed for the production of ion-conductive materials.

The removal of oxidizable organic impurities which include alkylthiolsulfonate from alkanesulfonic acids by treatment with an ozone containing gas is disclosed. The treated products have improved color and odor and exhibit improved long-term color stability.

Oligomeric esters and mixtures thereof useful as soil release agents in consumer laundering and fabric care compositions are disclosed. Preferred oligomers have the formulae ##STR1## wherein E is ##STR2## wherein the R substituents may be the same or different and are members selected from the group consisting of --CH.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3)--, --CH(CH.sub.3)CH.sub.2 --and --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, n is an integer from 1 to 30 and x is an integer from 0 to about 20 provided that when E is ##STR3## x is at least 1. Mixtures of the oligomers having one and two NaO.sub.3 S(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --substituents are particularly effective and formulable soil release agents in detergent compositions.

This invention is directed to the preparation of .alpha.-sulfofatty acid esters. More particularly, this invention is directed to a process for the simplified preparation of light-colored, wash-active esters of .alpha.-sulfofatty acids with monovalent C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alcohols or their salts from fats and oils of vegetable and/or animal origin comprising re-esterification with the monovalent alcohols or saponification and esterification with the monovalent alcohols, separation of the fatty acid ester formed, hydrogenation of the fatty acid ester, sulfonation, and bleaching, wherein a fatty acid ester fraction from which accompanying fatty acid glycerides have been removed to the extent of about 1 percent by weight or less, based upon the weight of the material to be sulfonated, is introduced into the sulfonation stage.

Novel sulfonate and sulfate surfactants which have low interfacial tension at high salinity, and their use in enhanced oil recovery are disclosed. These surfactants may be made from relatively inexpensive intermediates, such as monohydric alcohols and epichlorohydrin. These surfactants have 1,3-dihydrocarboxy-2-propyl hydrophobic tails linked by ethoxy linkages to sulfate or alkyl sulfonate moieties.

Alkali or alkaline earth metal salts of the reaction product of certain polyalkylene glycols of the formula ##EQU1## wherein N = 0 TO 100(m+p) = 10 to 500 ##EQU2## WITH A SULTONE. These products are superior and long lasting antistatic agents for use in connection with polyamide synthetic fibers.Polyamides compositions having antistatic properties as well as methods for manufacture of such compositions are also disclosed.
