Abstract: Components for articles of footwear and athletic equipment including a foam are provided. The foam portion of the components and articles include a composition which includes a thermoplastic copolyester, the composition having a foam structure. A polymer layer is provided on at least on surface of the foam portion. The polymer layer can control or reduce the water uptake of the foam portion. Methods of making the compositions, foams, and components are provided, as well as methods of making an article of footwear including one of the foam components. In some aspects, the foams and foam components can be made by injection molding, or injection molding followed by compression molding.

Abstract: An article may include a carcass or jacket, and at least one composite member arranged within the carcass or jacket for inhibiting longitudinal stretch of the article. The composite member may include a plurality of fibers arranged in a polymeric binder, the polymeric binder bonding the composite member to the carcass or jacket. The carcass or jacket may be formed substantially of rubber or thermoplastic elastomer. The plurality of fibers may include fibers formed substantially from at least one of S-glass, aramid and carbon fiber. The polymer binder may be formed substantially of a thermoplastic material or of a thermoset material. In manufacturing of the article, the carcass or jacket may be extruded to surround the composite member. The article may be a handrail or an elevator belt.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a wood-plastic coated metal composite profile and a production process, and belongs to the technical field of composite profiles. The wood-plastic coated metal composite profile includes a metal core material, a wood-plastic surface layer and an intermediate layer provided between the metal core material and the wood-plastic surface layer. The intermediate layer includes unsaturated carboxylic acid modified polyolefin and thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, inorganic filler, polyurethane prepolymer. In the present disclosure, an intermediate layer is provided between the wood-plastic surface layer and the metal core material for bonding. The intermediate layer has excellent performance when bonding with the metal, and at the same time, it can blend with the wood-plastic surface layer to a certain extent during co-extrusion. Thereby, a stable structure with core material-intermediate layer-wood-plastic surface layer is formed, and the intermediate layer has good elasticity and impact resistance, and can maintain good bonding under various environments.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a method for creating a solidified material using a machine tool. In some aspects, the machine tool supplies a current to an induction coil such that the induction coil generates a magnetic field. The machine tool changes the magnetic field to induce eddy currents in a first conductor surrounding a feedstock and a second conductor surrounded by the feedstock. The machine tool uses the eddy currents to cause the feedstock to transition from a solid state to a uniform malleable state regardless of the feedstock’s electrical conductivity.
