The engine is arranged to power a water propulsion device associated with the watercraft and has a body defining at least one combustion chamber. The engine includes an intake system for routing air to the combustion chamber, the intake system extending from the body of the engine. The fuel increasing mechanism includes an accelerating pump for supplying fuel to air passing through the intake system, the accelerating pump positioned on a side of the intake system generally opposite the body of the engine.

    摘要: An intake system for a V-type engine comprises a surge tank, a common intake pipe upstream of the surge tank and a plurality of discrete intake pipes for connecting the respective cylinders in the cylinder banks of the V-type engine with the surge tank. Each of the discrete intake pipes for the cylinders in each cylinder bank comprises a U-shaped bight portion which projects from the side of the surge tank remote from the cylinder bank toward the other cylinder bank and is bent toward the cylinder bank, and a crossing portion which is connected between the corresponding intake port in the cylinder bank and the downstream end of the U-shaped bight portion and crosses the discrete intake pipes for the cylinders in the other cylinder bank below the surge tank.

    摘要: An intake system for an internal combustion engine has an induction passage which extends substantially horizontally from a throttle body accommodating a throttle valve to an intake manifold of the engine. A fuel injector is disposed in the throttle body substantially coaxially with the throttle body. Fuel is supplied to the injector through a fuel inlet passage, while excess fuel is returned through a fuel outlet passage. At least the fuel outlet passage extends upwardly from the injector.

    摘要: A multi-cylinder engine comprising a carburetor housing forming therein at least two branch mixture passages. Each of the branch mixture passages is connected to a respective intake port. A throttle valve of the carburetor is provided for each cylinder. Each of the throttle valves is arranged in the respective branch mixture passage. A single common connecting passage and branch connecting passages which are connected to the common connecting passage are provided. Each of the branch connecting passages opens into the respective intake port in the vicinity of the rear face of the valve head of the corresponding intake valve. The common connecting passage is arranged adjacent to the exhaust port for heating the inner wall of the common connecting passage by the exhaust gas flowing in the exhaust port.

    摘要: An induction system for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine that improves fuel efficiency and reduces the emission of unwanted exhaust gas constituents, particularly at the low and medium load conditions. The engine induction system comprises a plurality of separate carburetor barrels which, at least under some running conditions, serve cylinders separately from each other through main induction passages. One carburetor barrel is provided with a different fuel discharge system than the other carburetor barrels for accomodating a certain engine operating condition. A separate sub-intake system connects this carburetor barrel with other cylinders not normally served by the particular carburetor barrel in question. This sub-intake system has a substantially smaller cross-sectional area in the main intake system so that the charge drawn into the cylinders through the sub-intake system enters at a substantially higher velocity. This improves combustion by creating turbulence under at least some operating conditions. The ratio of flow between the sub-intake system and the main intake system is controlled by a series of throttle valves. In accordance with this invention constructions are provided for delaying the movement of the throttle valve associated with the other carburetor barrels from that associated with the one carburetor barrel for improving the transitional performance of the engine. In certain embodiments of the invention this delay in movement is accomplished by a resilient connection in the throttle linkage.
