    摘要: An air intake structure for an engine provided with an air cleaner near an exhaust muffler includes: a case defining an air intake chamber; an air cleaner element housed in the case to divide the air intake chamber into a dust chamber and a clean chamber; a first air inlet formed in a part of the case close to the exhaust muffler such that the first air inlet communicates the dust chamber with an exterior of the case; a second air inlet formed in a part of the case distant from the exhaust muffler such that the second air inlet communicates the dust chamber with an exterior of the case; a communication opening formed in the case so as to communicate the clean chamber with an air intake passage; and an opening and closing mechanism for selectively opening and closing at least one of the first and second air inlets.

Also, in at least some embodiments, the present invention relates to an air cleaner including a housing and an additional component by which the air cleaner is capable of being directly coupled to a carburetor inlet. In some such embodiments, one or more protrusions can be provided within a channel formed by the housing/additional component to influence air flow. Further, in at least some embodiments, the present invention relates to an air cleaner having a shaped wall formed on a housing portion, where the shaped wall includes both an interior surface and an exterior surface by which air flowing within the air cleaner is imparted with helical motion.

    摘要: A vehicle can include an engine, an air cleaner for supplying air taken in by the engine, an exhaust passage for exhausting exhaust gas of the engine, and a secondary air passage for connecting the air cleaner to the exhaust passage and for supplying secondary air to the exhaust passage. A one-way valve can be disposed in the secondary air passage. A resonator portion can be interposed between the air cleaner and the one-way valve. The resonator portion can branch from the secondary air passage and can include a closed space. A water drain portion can be disposed in the closed space of the resonator portion.

    摘要: An automobile air intake system is provided that channels air from outside the automobile engine compartment to the engine. The automobile air intake system according to an embodiment of the invention includes an intake enclosure coupled to a bulkhead across the front of the engine compartment. The automobile grille, radiator, and a front portion of the hood in front of the bulkhead form a flow channel to an intake port of the intake enclosure. Aspects of the invention include a screen extending from the bulkhead to the grille for inhibiting the flow of water and particles through the flow channel. Other aspects provide an alternative air path for channeling air from the engine compartment to the intake enclosure.
