摘要: Estimating soot comprises connecting exhaust pipe to engine, exhaust pipe has diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter. Fuel injector is connected to exhaust pipe upstream from diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter. Delta exhaust pressure sensor measures difference in exhaust pressure at inlet and outlet to diesel particulate filter. Controller is connected to fuel injector and to delta exhaust pressure sensor. Controller determines when to conduct active regeneration of diesel particulate filter based on estimated amount of soot accumulated therein. Controller, in first regeneration mode, causes fuel injector to inject fuel at first rate into exhaust stream, and re-evaluates soot accumulated within diesel particulate filter under increased volumetric flow of exhaust stream. Controller, in second regeneration mode, causes fuel injector to inject fuel at second rate, larger than first rate, into exhaust stream to combust soot trapped in diesel particulate filter.

摘要: An apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas includes an engine, an exhaust pipe, a first lean NOx trap (LNT) adapted to absorb nitrogen oxide (NOx) contained in the exhaust gas, to release the absorbed NOx, and to reduce the NOx contained in the exhaust gas or the released NOx or to generate ammonia (NH3), a second LNT adapted to absorb the NOx, to release the absorbed NOx, and to reduce the NOx contained in the exhaust gas or the released NOx or to generate the NH3, and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst adapted to temporarily absorb the NH3 and to reduce the NOx contained in the exhaust gas, wherein the second LNT is positioned such that an average temperature of the second LNT is lower than that of the first LNT by 50-150° C. based on an average temperature of the exhaust gas.

摘要: Selective catalytic reduction filter (SCRF) devices and systems incorporating the same are provided. Systems can include an exhaust gas source, an exhaust gas conduit capable of receiving an exhaust gas stream from the exhaust gas source, and an SCRF device in fluid communication therewith. The SCRF device can include a filter, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst disposed on at least portion of the filter, and a NOx storage coating on at least a portion of the filter. The NOx storage coating can include one or more of palladium, barium, or cerium. The NOx storage coating can be biased towards the upstream side of the filter. The NOx storage coating can overlap a portion of the SCR catalyst. The system can further include a water-absorbing alkali oxide. The water-absorbing alkali oxide can be disposed within the SCRF device, the exhaust gas conduit, or in an upstream oxidation catalyst device.

摘要: A diagnostic system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The diagnostic system may include an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit may determine whether a predetermined condition is satisfied. The predetermined condition may be a condition under which an amount of particulate matter that separates from a filter is larger than or equal to a predetermined separation amount as a urea water-originated deposit once accumulated in the filter separates in gaseous form. When the electronic control unit determines that the predetermined condition is satisfied, the electronic control unit may not execute a diagnosis of a malfunction in the filter based on a filter differential pressure until a predetermined period elapses from the point in time at which it is determined that the predetermined condition is satisfied.

摘要: An exhaust-gas purification system and method are provided for an internal combustion engine having an NOx storage catalytic converter and a downstream SCR catalytic converter. The NOx storage catalytic converter can be supplied in a first operating mode with an oxidizing exhaust gas and in a second operating mode with a reducing exhaust gas. A third operating mode is provided between the first operating mode and the second operating mode, in which an exhaust gas which has a lower content of oxidizing constituents than the first operating mode and a lower content of reducing constituents than the second operating mode can be supplied to the NOx storage catalytic converter to improve NH3 production at the start of converter regeneration.

摘要: A three-way catalyst is disclosed. The three-way catalyst comprises a palladium component comprising palladium and a ceria-zirconia-alumina mixed or composite oxide, and also comprises a rhodium component comprising rhodium and a zirconia-containing material. The palladium component and the rhodium component are coated onto a silver-containing extruded molecular sieve substrate. The invention also includes an exhaust system comprising the three-way catalyst. The three-way catalyst results in improved hydrocarbon storage and conversion, in particular during the cold start period.
