摘要: In a method for treating combustible and/or reactive particles (34) which have been separated from a gas stream (32) by means of a separation device (36) an oxidizing agent is supplied to an atmosphere surrounding the particles (34) so as to cause a passivating oxidation of at least a part of the particles (34). A content of the oxidizing agent in the atmosphere surrounding the particles (34) is detected and the supply of the oxidizing agent to the atmosphere surrounding the particles (34) is controlled in dependence on the detected content of the oxidizing agent in the atmosphere surrounding the particles (34).

摘要: Methods of sequestering carbon dioxide (CO2) are provided. Aspects of the methods include contacting an aqueous capture ammonia with a gaseous source of CO2 under conditions sufficient to produce an aqueous ammonium carbonate. The aqueous ammonium carbonate is then combined with a cation source under conditions sufficient to produce a solid CO2 sequestering carbonate and an aqueous ammonium salt. The aqueous capture ammonia is then regenerated from the from the aqueous ammonium salt. Also provided are systems configured for carrying out the methods.

摘要: System and method for removing molecular contaminants from an air stream are disclosed. The system includes first, second and third filter. The first filter removes organic contaminants from an air stream passing through the first filter. The second filter is downstream of the first filter, is physically and chemically exchangeable with the first filter and removes organic contaminants from the air stream output of the first filter. The third filter, downstream of the second filter, is not exchangeable with the first filter or the second filter. The first position filter can be replaced by the second filter in the second position when the first filter in the first position becomes depleted as detected. A new filter in the second filter position is inserted. Replacing the depleted first filter with the second downstream filter reduces costs and waste while inserting the new filter in the second position ensures removing organic contaminants.

摘要: The present invention provides a system of capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) and other gases from combustion engines. The system includes a housing having a plurality of compartments fluidly connected to one another. The housing can be disposed within an exhaust system of a vehicle to capture CO2 prior to being expelled therefrom. The compartments form a cartridge that is removable from the housing and interchangeable with a second cartridge. Each of the end compartments are closed with a semipermeable filter that allows gases and small molecules to pass through, but not solids or liquids. A first compartment is filled with activated charcoal or silica gel to adsorb CO2, wherein a second compartment is filled with a nitrogen containing compound, such as ammonia. A chemical reaction occurs between the nitrogen and remaining gases forming an inert byproduct, such as, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, ammonium carbamate, and/or urea.

摘要: A gas scrubber may include an absorption apparatus configured for receiving a gas and absorbing the gas in an absorption medium, as well as an evaporation apparatus configured for evaporating at least a part of the liquid that is introduced. The absorption apparatus may have an introduction apparatus for the gas, an apparatus for circulating the absorption solution that has reacted with the gas, a discharge apparatus for at least a part of the absorption solution that has reacted with the gas, and a cooling system for the circulating absorption solution. The absorption apparatus and the evaporation apparatus can be connected via a heat exchanger such that heat content of the absorption solution that has reacted with the gas is used at least in part for the evaporation.

摘要: A system and method recover process gas from a source volume at a source pressure to a destination volume at an equal or greater pressure. A regulation process receive the process gas from the source volume and steps down the pressure. Each regulation uses one or more stage each using a pressure control valve for pressure step down and a heat exchanger for reheating the process gas thereafter. A gas scrubber receives the process gas from the regulation stages and collecting liquid from the process gas. A compression process receives the process gas from the gas scrubber and steps up the intermediate pressure to a final pressure. The compression can use one or more compression stages, each having a compression cycle for pressure step up and a heat exchanger for cooling the process gas thereafter. A discharge vessel receives the process gas from the compression process and discharges the process gas at the final pressure to the destination volume. The final pressure is equal to or greater than the destination pressure.
