The slurry includes one or more of an embedded moisture barrier, vapor barrier, and oil barrier, and the topical coating comprises one or more of a vapor barrier, a moisture barrier, an oil barrier, and an oxygen barrier, for example polyvinyl alcohol, sugar alcohol, citric acid, and cellulose nanofibrils.

Abstract: A method for producing cellulose-fibre-based drinking straws and a drinking straw. The method comprises:
providing a cellulose material,
producing at least one aqueous suspension comprising the cellulose material and adding additives to the suspension,
homogenizing the aqueous suspension and pre-drying to obtain at least one water-containing non-woven web having a first side and a second side,
drying the water-containing non-woven web in a plurality of drying steps to form at least one paper web having a first side and a second side,
further processing the paper web or a plurality of paper webs to form a cellulose-fibre-based drinking straw.
At least the first side of the non-woven web is compressed with a line load of 80 kN/m to 500 kN/m before, during or after one of the drying steps and before the further processing to form a cellulose-fibre-based drinking straw.-

Abstract: The invention relates to a transfer paper (4) for use for transferring a print of ink onto a fabric, said transfer paper comprising: i) a base paper (2); ii) an additive (8) comprising a starch component, and a binding agent; wherein said starch component being a starch selected from the group comprising: unmodified starch or a modified starch or a mixture thereof; and wherein said binding agent being a binding agent selected from the group comprising: an alkyl ketene dimer, a tall oil/fumaric acid copolymer, a styrene/acrylate copolymer and an alkenyl succinic anhydride and a mixture thereof; wherein said base paper (2) comprises an amount of said additive by being impregnated therewith; and wherein said base paper (2) having a water uptake as defined by a Cobb-45 value of 10-100 g/m2 and a having a Gurley porosity of 10-140 seconds. The present invention furthermore relates to uses of the transfer paper (4).

Abstract: An oil resistant article is described that does not contain any fluorocarbon compounds. The oil resistant article includes a basesheet formed from pulp fibers. The basesheet is coated on at least one surface with an oil resistant coating. The basesheet is formed without having to use any highly refined fibers. Various chemical treatments are incorporated into the basesheet and the oil resistant coating is formed from particularly selected polymers that produces an oil resistant article having a relatively high permeability and excellent oil resistant properties.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing medical paper for medical sterilization packaging, medical paper and medical sterilization packaging are disclosed. A paper web is formed of fibrous substrate comprising cellulosic fibers and optionally synthetic fibers, with opposite first and second sides. On-line with the forming of the paper web, reinforcing material is applied on the first side and pressed into structure of the paper web such that delamination resistance of the structure is increased. Sealing material is applied on the second side of the paper web on-line with the forming of the paper web.
