    Abstract: Method for on-site glyoxylation of polyacrylamide in paper mill, board mill or the like is disclosed. Discontinuous batch glyoxylation reaction of aqueous reaction mixture is performed. The method comprises forming or obtaining the aqueous reaction mixture having a start viscosity and comprising polyacrylamide base polymer having weight average molecular weight of 30 000-300 000 g/mol and glyoxal. Concentration of the polyacrylamide base polymer in the reaction mixture is 1.5-8% above a Critical Concentration of the polyacrylamide base polymer. A feed of an alkali is added to the reaction mixture while measuring viscosity of the reaction mixture and/or a process variable related to the viscosity of the reaction mixture and the on-site glyoxylation reaction of polyacrylamide base polymer in the reaction mixture is allowed to proceed. When a predetermined end viscosity value is attained the feed of alkali is ended and acid is added to the reaction mixture.

    Abstract: A method for producing a sheet of paper or cardboard from a fibrous suspension includes injection of a polymer P2 into a suspension of cellulosic fibers, forming of a sheet of paper or cardboard, and drying of the sheet of paper or cardboard. The polymer P2 is prepared, before the injection, from a water-soluble polymer P1 in inverse emulsion form. P1 consists of at least one nonionic monomer selected from acrylamide, methacrylamide, N,N-dimethylacrylamide, and acrylonitrile. The polymer P1 is subjected to a reaction Re to yield a polymer P2. The reaction Re includes adding the polymer P1 in inverse emulsion form to an aqueous solution M1 of an alkali hydroxide and/or an alkaline earth hydroxide, and an alkali hypohalide and/or an alkaline earth hypohalide, prior to a reaction time of 10 seconds to 5 hours.

    Abstract: There is provided a fiber body manufacturing method including an accumulating step of forming the web by accumulating a material containing fibers and starch or dextrin on the first transport belt by a dry method; a transport step of transporting the web by peeling off a first surface of the web from the first transport belt, and by bringing a second surface of the web, which is a surface opposite to the first surface peeled off from the first transport belt, into contact with the second transport belt; a water-applying step of applying the water to the web which is in contact with the first transport belt or the second transport belt; and a heating step of heating the web by bringing the heating section into contact with the web peeled off from the second transport belt, and forming a fiber body by binding the fibers with the starch or dextrin, in which the web peeled off from the second transport belt is directly supplied to the heating section.

    Abstract: A method of preparing a non-wood fiber paper strengthening product is disclosed. The method comprises placing an additive in an aqueous alkaline medium, wherein the additive comprises a hydroxycarboxylic acid, and mixing a non-wood fiber material with the placed additive in the aqueous alkaline medium to form a mixture, wherein the non-wood fiber material comprises starch, protein and fiber, wherein the additive, starch, protein, and fiber of the non-wood fiber material, and metal ions of the alkaline medium become physically crosslinked resulting in a non-wood fiber paper strengthening product. In an aspect, the non-wood fiber paper strengthening product is used in making a paper product wherein the paper product has greater strength than the same paper product made with native starch or chemically modified starch instead of the non-wood fiber paper strengthening product.
