Abstract:
There is described a sonotrode for sealing an opening device onto a hole of a packaging material destined to from a sealed package, comprising: a sealing surface adapted to cooperate with packaging material in order to seal the opening device to the packaging material; a cavity bounded by an opening of sealing surface and adapted to receive the opening device and a ring made in an elastomeric material, partially protruding inside the cavity, and adapted to center a first axis of the opening device on a second axis of the sonotrode.
Abstract:
A container comprising a first material and a second material, the first material being a flexible material and the second material being a rigid or semi-rigid material and at least partially defining an interior compartment for keeping a fluid inside the container characterized in that the flexible material and/or the semi-rigid or rigid material have thermoplastic properties and wherein the flexible material and the semi-rigid or rigid material are joined together by a seal or joint which comprises a heat seal and an adhesive seal.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing tubular bags made from plastic film or from composite film having a plastic layer on the bag content side, having a self-cutting plastic closure attached to the tubular bag, consisting of a spout part having a fastening flange, a cutting body, which is movably guided in the spout part, and a screw cover having means for activating the cutting body. The film material (5) is supplied from a supply roll to a bag manufacturing machine and the plastic closure is sealed onto the film material in a spout region of a tubular bag. According to the invention, the film material (5) is thinned on the inside of the bag in a ring-shaped region, which is intended for cutting by the cutting body, by means of a thermal embossing process. The plastic closure is then positioned and sealed onto the film material such that the cutting organ embedded in the spout part can become effective in the thinned, ring-shaped region upon use thereof.
Abstract:
A method for welding an add-on part to a component, in particular for a motor vehicle, using the in per se known torsional ultrasonic welding method having a sonotrode for transferring the vibrations generating the welding add-on part has a coupling flange for coupling the vibrations of the sonotrode and the add-on part has coupling elements for coupling the vibrations induced by the sonotrode in the welding region facing the weld interface area of the component, and the coupling elements thereby melt during the welding process and thus well the add-on part to the component.
Abstract:
A flexible container and a method of manufacturing the same where a spout or fitment is attached to the outside of the flexible container. The flexible container includes a patch having at least a portion of the patch overlapping an opening of the flexible container. The fitment is attached to the outside of the sidewall of the container and the portion of the patch which overlaps the opening of the flexible container. The fitment includes a flange with a bottom surface having sealing beads. The sealing beads can be bonded to the outside of the sidewall of the container and/or the portion of the patch which overlaps the opening of the flexible container.
Abstract:
A fitting for use in fusion welding mating thermoplastic components includes a weld bead chamber to capture and conceal a bead formed as a result of the fusion weld. The weld bead chamber integrates the bead into the fitting so that the joined parts have a finished look without mechanical polishing or grinding of the completed piece. A stop ledge included in the weld bead chamber prevents over insertion of a pipe or other component into the fitting. A view window in the fitting permits inspection of the finished bead.
Abstract:
A reclosable bag that can be hermetically sealed. The bag comprises a pair of zipper strips that are joined in respective zones without substantial deformation of the longitudinal profiled closure elements. These zones of zipper strip joinder assist in providing a leakproof transition from the openable section of the zipper to the corner seals, where the longitudinal profiled closure elements are either substantially deformed (e.g., crushed) or absent. The method of manufacture involves the steps of ultrasonically welding a wide area and then thermally crushing a narrower area overlapping the wide welded area to form leakproof zipper joints. This method can be applied to string (flangeless) zippers as well as flanged zippers.
Abstract:
A standup bags made of a flexible material and methods of producing these standup bags. In particular, the standup bags have at least one substantially flat surface which is free of seams and folds. When the bag is filled with a flowable substance, the pressure exerted by the fluid upon the flat surfaces allows the bag to be self-standing. Additionally, the standup includes at least one contour structure that defines the geometry of the bag and also contributes to the standup bag's ability to be self-standing when even partially filled with a flowable substance.
Abstract:
A guide system for improving the orientation of a web of film as it passes around a fill tube structure in a form, fill, seal packaging machine is provided. The guide system comprises at least two members removably coupled to the fill tube structure, and so constructed and arranged that they increase the cross-sectional perimeter of the fill tube structure when they are secured thereto. The members cooperating with the fill tube structure to stretch the web of film as it passes around the fill tube structure. An improved apparatus for attaching fitments to a web of film and method is also provided.
Abstract:
A method for producing and vulcanizing an inflatable hollow body from a double cloth having upper and lower plies with edges and pile yarns spacing the plies apart includes applying a respective gas-tight unvulcanized layer of rubber to each of the upper and lower piles of the double cloth. The edges of the upper and lower plies are joined with angle braces forming a hollow body. The hollow body is evacuated over a predetermined period of time and the hollow body is vulcanized in the evacuated state.
