摘要: A grinding wheel is suited for shaping glass, notably glass that is less than or equal to 4 mm thick. This grinding wheel has at least one abrasive portion formed of at least one metal binder and of diamonds distributed in the binder. The binder has a Rockwell B hardness of between 95 and 105 and is tungsten-based. The diamonds have a size of between 75 and 95 μm and a concentration of between 2.2 ct/cm3 and 2.64 ct/cm3. Glass, in particular for shaping motor-vehicle glazing units, can be shaped with this grinding wheel, making it possible to achieve travel speeds greater than or equal to 30 m/min.

摘要: A method for beveling a thin glass plate by simultaneously grinding an edge of the glass using multiple abrasive cup wheels, wherein the edge of the glass plate is extended from the fixturing device. The extension of the glass plate allows the glass plate to bend in response to forces applied by the abrasive cup wheels, thereby reducing the sensitivity of the grinding process to variations in position of the abrasive wheels. The axes of rotation of the abrasive wheels are separated by a distance selected to prevent deflection in the glass plate caused by a first abrasive wheel to influence the deflection in the glass plate caused by a second (adjacent) abrasive wheel.

摘要: A method of finishing glass sheets includes forming a stack comprising alternating layers of unfinished glass sheets and spacer pads. The stack is such that there is no physical contact between any two adjacent unfinished glass sheets and outer edges of the spacer pads are recessed relative to outer edges of the unfinished glass sheets. The stack is secured by clamping the unfinished glass sheets and spacer pads together and then supported on a working surface. The unfinished glass sheets of the stack are finished simultaneously while the stack is supported on the working surface. After the finishing, the stack comprises alternating layers of finished glass sheets and spacer pads.

摘要: Described herein are coating compositions for protecting one-glass solution (OGS) glasses and other display glasses during processing. The coatings are non-reactive to typical indium-tin oxide touch components, metal electrodes, and black matrix inks, and can thus be used to over-coat these materials. In one aspect, the coating compositions described herein can be applied by a screen printing application process in a single layer or in multiple layers and are compatible with CNC edge grinding and acid etching. Further, the protective coatings are rigid, but not brittle, and are durable but still able to be processed rapidly. Additionally, the protective coatings are transparent, allowing alignment marks on the substrates to be visible. Finally, the protective coatings can easily be removed after substrate processing has been completed.
