Abstract:
Provided is a grindstone tool capable of grinding with high precision and a method for manufacturing same, the grindstone tool having improved chip discharge characteristics to thereby prevent chips clogging of the chip pocket. The grinding tool comprises: dimples (14) formed in the external peripheral surface (13a) of a base metal (11) so that the quantity present in any position in the width direction of the external peripheral surface (13a) is the same in the peripheral direction; a grinding surface (21) formed by affixing a plurality of abrasive grains (22) to the external peripheral surface (13a) using a plating layer (23); and recess parts (24) into which chips produced by the grinding of the abrasive grains (22) are discharged, the recess parts being formed by portions that correspond to the dimples (14) in the grinding surface (21) being recessed.
Abstract:
A grinding wheel is suited for shaping glass, notably glass that is less than or equal to 4 mm thick. This grinding wheel has at least one abrasive portion formed of at least one metal binder and of diamonds distributed in the binder. The binder has a Rockwell B hardness of between 95 and 105 and is tungsten-based. The diamonds have a size of between 75 and 95 μm and a concentration of between 2.2 ct/cm3 and 2.64 ct/cm3. Glass, in particular for shaping motor-vehicle glazing units, can be shaped with this grinding wheel, making it possible to achieve travel speeds greater than or equal to 30 m/min.
Abstract:
A CBN grinding particle included in a CBN grinding wheel has a single crystal CBN grinding particle having a tetrahedron construction and a multi crystal CBN grinding particle. The single crystal CBN grinding particle is blended with a ratio of equal to or more than 50% to a total summed volume of the single and multi CBN grinding particles. A CBN grinding wheel having the CBN grinding particle is especially suitable for rough grinding.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a beveling wheel and method for forming a beveled lens with the beveling wheel for use with eyeglasses. One embodiment includes a prescription lens for use on an eyeglass frame having a receiving channel. The receiving channel includes a channel bottom and opposed interior wall surfaces having a first angle therebetween. The prescription plastic lens includes a prescription lens body generally defined by a peripheral edge having a bevel extending away from the edge to a vertex. The bevel has a distal portion with a second angle. The bevel is receivable within the receiving channel. At least a portion of the vertex of the bevel has an interference fit with the receiving channel bottom when held within the eyeglass frame. The first angle is greater than the second angle.
Abstract:
The invention seeks to provide a wood sanding bit that can be used for the sanding of routered work piece edges. Specifically, the invention seeks to provide a wood sanding bit for use with a rotary tool, the bit comprising a sanding body having an outwardly and radially disposed sanding surface, the sanding surface provided with an abrasive material, wherein the sanding surface has a profile corresponding to a standard contoured router bit profile.
Abstract:
A method of grinding a ferrous roll may include: rotating a grinding wheel on a machine spindle to form a rotating grinding wheel; rotating a ferrous roll to form a rotating roll surface; bringing the rotating grinding wheel into contact with the rotating roll surface; traversing the rotating grinding wheel across an axial roll length of the rotating roll surface; and grinding the roll surface while varying at least one or both of a grinding wheel rotational speed and a said mill roll rotational speed at an amplitude of +/−1 to 40% with a period of 1 to 30 seconds.
Abstract:
Iron and steel rolls are ground to production quality requirements with a grinding wheel that requires minimal wheel wear compensation, profile error compensation or taper error compensation during the grinding process. The grinding wheel consists essentially of a superabrasive material selected from the group of natural diamond, synthetic diamond, cubic boron nitride, and mixtures thereof, in a bond system, for a grinding wheel with extended wheel life, and which removes minimum amount of stock off the roll to achieve desired roll geometry.
Abstract:
Ophthalmic rough-cut and polishing wheels having a plurality of swarf clearance grooves formed across the shaping face are described. The grooves are spaced around the shaping face of the wheels, wherein the slots are configured so as to be substantially angled either towards or away from one another.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel method and apparatus for producing pulp from lignocellulosic raw material, such as wood or annual or perennial plants, by mechanical defibration. According to the invention, fibers are peeled from the wood by means of grinding grits arranged on a defibration surface, wherein at least 90% of the protrusion difference distribution between adjacent or neighboring grits on the surface belongs to a value region maximally as wide as the average grit diameter. By means of the invention, a reduction in specific energy consumption of up to 50% or even more can be obtained.
Abstract:
A grinding wheel system includes a grinding wheel with at least one embedded sensor. The system also includes an adapter disk containing electronics that process signals produced by each embedded sensor and that transmits sensor information to a data processing platform for further processing of the transmitted information.
