摘要: Shaped ceramic abrasive particles include a first surface having a perimeter having a perimeter comprising at least first and second edges. A first region of the perimeter includes the second edge and extends inwardly and terminates at two corners defining first and second acute interior angles. The perimeter has at most four corners that define acute interior angles. A second surface is disposed opposite, and not contacting, the first surface. A peripheral surface is disposed between and connects the first and second surfaces. The peripheral surface has a first predetermined shape. Methods of making the shaped ceramic abrasive particles, and abrasive articles including them are also disclosed.

摘要: A radial grinding tool for a machining center utilizing through-spindle coolant is disclosed and includes a main body having a central longitudinal axis, a spindle extending along the central longitudinal axis, a disc-shaped wheel member located at an end of the spindle and including a working surface at a periphery of the wheel member, and a passageway extending through the main body configured to accommodate a flow of coolant. The tool includes an impeller attached at a lower side of the wheel member and having a plurality of blades that are configured to impart a force against the coolant to reshape the flow of coolant into a generally flat stream and redirect and drive the coolant radially outward from the central longitudinal axis to the working surface.

In another embodiment, an abrasive article is described comprising a plurality of magnetizable abrasive particles as described herein retained in a binder material. Also described are method of making magnetizable abrasive particles and methods of making an abrasive article comprising magnetizable abrasive particles.

摘要: There is provided a vitrified bond super-abrasive grinding wheel including: a core; and a super-abrasive grain layer provided on the core, wherein the super-abrasive grain layer includes a plurality of super-abrasive grains and a vitrified bond that joins the plurality of super-abrasive grains, and the vitrified bond has a plurality of bond bridges located between the plurality of super-abrasive grains to join the plurality of super-abrasive grains, not less than 80% of the plurality of super-abrasive grains are joined to the super-abrasive grains adjacent thereto by the bond bridges, and not less than 90% of the plurality of bond bridges in a cross section of the super-abrasive grain layer have a thickness equal to or smaller than an average grain size of the super-abrasive grains, and have a length greater than the thickness.

摘要: A method of making conglomerate abrasive particles includes: providing agglomerate abrasive particles comprising mineral particles in a first vitreous binder; combining the agglomerate abrasive particles with a second vitreous binder material precursor to form precursor conglomerate abrasive particles; and heating the precursor conglomerate abrasive particles to convert the second vitreous binder material precursor into a second vitreous binder, different from the first vitreous binder, thereby forming the conglomerate abrasive particles. The first vitreous binder differs from the second vitreous binder by at least one of: i) elemental composition, or ii) an intrinsic physical property; and wherein the conglomerate abrasive particles can pass through a testing sieve having one-millimeter openings. Conglomerate abrasive particles preparable by the method, and abrasive articles containing them, are also disclosed.
