摘要： Disclosed is a cutting tool mounted on a shaft rotating about an axis, including a body having first cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing at the outer periphery of the body, which first cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending across the width of the body at a predetermined peripheral radius from the axis; and second cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing adjacent the outer periphery on a first side surface of the body, which second cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending in an axial plane perpendicular to the axis. The cutting edge of each first insert extends up to a predetermined distance from the axial plane of the second inserts; and the cutting edge of each second insert preceding a first insert extends a predetermined radial distance outside the peripheral radius of the cutting edges of the first inserts. Also disclosed is a related apparatus.

The system has a track which is slidably received within the recess of the worktable. A bracket connected to the track; and a sacrificial fence is adjustably connected to the bracket. A track system is connected to the sacrificial fence and a stop assembly connected to the track system. The track slides within the recess of the worktable such that the sacrificial fence passes over the cutting element such that a beaded face frame feature is cut into a workpiece.

摘要： A contoured rake face cutting tool and method of making is disclosed. A rotary cutting tool with a plurality of teeth can cause damage to a work piece during cutting. By orienting the cutting angle of the teeth relative to the rotational central axis to high shear angle such as 50 or 70 degrees, the tool creates a high compression cut which is cleaner and less damaging to the work piece. The cutting surface itself is profiled, i.e. non-planar, such as concave or convex or other non planar shape, which is preferably formed into an ultra-hard material which is supplied for use in a planar form.

摘要： A high speed planer head. Disclosed according to one aspect of the invention is a hub and a threaded member. The hub is axially disposed for rotation about an axis, and has a pocket for receiving a first knife against a supporting wall of the pocket. The threaded member has a frustoconical ramping portion for producing a wedging force against the knife when the threaded member is threaded into a threaded hole in the hub. According to another aspect of the invention, a second hub for carrying a second knife is provided, the second hub preferably being bolted to the first hub to that the hubs can be disassembled. The second knife preferably has two linear cutting edges and the second knife preferably has at least two curvilinear cutting edges and more preferably has four concave, semi-circular cutting edges that are spaced apart from one another with 90 degree rotational symmetry.

摘要： A rotary cutter head includes integral clamping members for releasably securing cutting blades in recesses formed in the cutter head. Each clamping member is formed with a free end portion which defines one side of the recess. An end of the clamping member located oppositely of the free end portion is integrally connected to the cutter head and defines a resilient hinge portion. The free end portion is resiliently biased by the integral hinge portion to a position which allows the blade to be slidably received in the recess. Threaded fasteners are operable to cause the free end portion to pivot about the hinge portion and to drive the free end portion toward an oppositely located side of the recess so as to clamp the blade in the recess.

摘要： A cutterhead for an industrial woodworking machine which is operable to incorporate a sufficient number of knife rows to permit a staggered tooth arrangement for noise reduction or, alternatively, to provide improved surface finish at higher feed rates without increasing cutterhead RPM. The cutterhead also provides for the generation of a variety of shapes when used with appropriately shaped individual cutting inserts. The cutterhead includes a cutterhead body having a cylindrical portion having a plurality of circumferentially spaced grooves for receiving a plurality of cutting inserts, a predetermined hole pattern in the cutterhead body for securing the cutting inserts in the grooves, and in the preferred embodiment elongated slots in the cutting inserts which permit lateral adjustment of the cutting inserts along the axis of the cutterhead. Profile shape adjustments are made through the use of a cam device. The individual cutting inserts can be replaced if broken or worn by simply exchanging the cutting inserts with properly ground cutting inserts due to the precise position repeatability afforded by the groove and slot seating design of the present invention which provides for economical, simple, and accurate replacement of the cutting inserts, thereby reducing the number of cutterheads required for a particular operation, and allowing interchangeability of cutting tool mateials by simply exchanging cutting inserts within a single head body.

摘要： An improved wood patch, in combination with a slot formed in a blemished wooden surface, and apparatus and method of manufacture thereof. The improved wood patch has, where the wooden surface to be repaired is horizontal, three faces: a flat horizontal exterior face, a flat vertical interior face, and an angled arcuate interior face. The patch has both a larger vertical radius of curvature and a larger angle between the flat vertical interior face and the angled arcuate interior face than the slot. Apparatus for manufacture includes a router utilizing a double router bit having a straight cutting edge oriented perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the bit and an angled cutting edge oriented at an angle to the straight cutting edge. Both relative longitudinal and transverse movement between the wood stock and the double router bit are created by the router being installed on a pneumatically actuated pivoting platform attached to a carriage which is engaged to a longitudinal track, with the router having a cam follower which engages a cam having a series of lobes formed in the shape of the curved intersection of the flat interior face and the arcuate interior face of the wood patch. A series of curved scallop-like protrusions are created on the wood stock which protrusions are subsequently removed by a separate cutting blade, mounted on the carriage behind the double router bit. Utilizing the proper cam, an elongated patch may be formed for a longitudinal series of blemishes on a wooden surface.
