where the nanoparticles (8) can be heated by means of the excitation, and

摘要: A coated abrasive article includes a backing, a make layer, crushed abrasive particles, and a size layer. The crushed abrasive particles include: 35 to 100 weight percent of initial crushed abrasive particles having a first composition and first size grade, wherein a majority of the initial crushed abrasive particles are platey crushed abrasive particles, and wherein each platey crushed abrasive particle has a respective length, width, and thickness; and 0 to 65 weight percent of crushed filler particles having a second composition and a second size grade. The first and second compositions and/or size grades are different. The coated abrasive article has a direction of intended use, a majority of the platey crushed abrasive particles of the coated abrasive article are positioned with their thickness oriented substantially parallel to the direction of intended use. A method of making the coated abrasive article is also disclosed.

The content of the performance enhancing material may be at least about 6 vol. % and not greater than about 14 vol. % for a total volume of the bond component.

摘要: A sintered vitrified superfinishing grindstone is provided which is a sintered product which is obtained by compression molding of a mixed powder of: a sinterable vitrified binder composed of a powder of a borosilicate glass composition; hard abrasive grains; and soft abrasive grains; and which includes bonded portions formed by necking due to heat compression, between particles of the powder of the borosilicate glass composition which are in contact with each other; and wherein the sinterable vitrified binder contains from 94 to 100% by mass of a powder composed of a low-melting-point borosilicate glass composition containing from 35 to 55% by mole of SiO2; from 3 to 5% by mole of A12O3; from 10 to 35% by mole of B2O3; and from 25 to 30% by mole of R2O+RO.

摘要: A flowable composite particle that includes a plurality of bound hard particles and a binder alloy. The bound hard particles are unfractured bound hard particles and fractured bound hard particles. Each of the bound hard particles is bonded to the binder alloy. The bound hard particles have a particle size of −325 Mesh. The flowable composite particle have a particle size distribution is: (a) between more than about zero weight percent and about 5 weight percent flowable composite particles of a +80 Mesh particle size, (b) between about 60 weight percent and about 95 weight percent flowable composite particles of a −80+325 Mesh particle size, and (c) between more than about zero weight percent and about 35 weight percent flowable composite particles of a −325 Mesh particle size.

摘要: Methods of fabricating polycrystalline diamond include subjecting a particle mixture to high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) conditions to form inter-granular diamond-to-diamond bonds. Before being subjected to HPHT conditions, the particle mixture includes a plurality of non-diamond nanoparticles, diamond nanoparticles, and diamond grit. The non-diamond nanoparticles includes carbon-free cores and at least one functional group attached to the cores. Cutting elements for use in an earth-boring tool include a polycrystalline diamond material formed by such processes. Earth-boring tools include such cutting elements.

摘要: Before bonding abrasive grain to a core wire, a palladium coating is applied to the surface of the abrasive grain. The palladium coating is formed as a sea on the surface of the diamond grains. In other words, the palladium coating covers the surface of the diamond grains so that the entirety thereof is continuous. Moreover, the palladium coating does not completely cover the diamond grains, and a diamond exposed portion is provided by the palladium coating not being applied on a portion thereof. The exposed diamond portion is formed as an island on the surface of the abrasive grain. In other words, a plurality of diamond exposed portions are formed as islands separated from each other.

A functional support volume (804) extant in use and having a proximal free surface extends from the functional working volume. The PCD body has a shape having an aspect ratio such that the ratio of the length (ae) of the longest edge of the circumscribing rectangular parallelepiped of the overall PCD body to the largest width (ad) of the smallest rectangular face from which the functional working volume extends of the circumscribing rectangular parallelepiped, is greater than or equal to 1.0, and one or more of the physical volumes forms at least part of one or other or both of the functional working volume and the functional support volume.
