    Abstract: Pressure roller and heating element combination for a welding apparatus and a method designed to weld a first thermoplastic sheet laid on the deck of a roof structure and secured to the deck by a line of fastening means, and an overlapping second thermoplastic sheet disposed over the line of the fastening means. The pressure roller includes a distal end, a proximal end, and a center portion which defines a groove. The groove is provided with an elastomeric cushion to smoothly ride over the line of fastening means and expel air from between welds produced on both sides of the fastening means when the apparatus is advanced in tandem with a heating element longitudinally along the overlapping portions of the thermoplastic sheets.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing connections, email messages, and directory harvest attacks at a server is disclosed. The server maintains a count of a parameter and compares the count to a specified maximum value, such that when the specified maximum value is met or exceeded, an action is taken by the server to limit the connections, email messages, or directory harvest attack. Actions include controlling the number of connections to the server from senders, controlling the flow of email messages injected to the server by senders, and controlling when rejection response messages are sent for invalid recipient email addresses to thwart a directory harvest attack. Senders are identified by one or more sender identifiers, which can be used to group senders together so that the same maximum value is applied collectively to all senders in the group.

    Abstract: An intelligent document recognition-based document management system includes modules for image capture, image enhancement, image identification, optical character recognition, data extraction and quality assurance. The system captures data from electronic documents as diverse as facsimile images, scanned images and images from document management systems. It processes these images and presents the data in, for example, a standard XML format. The document management system processes both structured document images (ones which have a standard format) and unstructured document images (ones which do not have a standard format). The system can extract images directly from a facsimile machine, a scanner or a document management system for processing.

    Abstract: A server embeds typically static documents with program code enabling, for example, a form to intelligently route itself to a desired destination, to prompt a user to respond to particular questions, to perform validation operations, and to present various pull down list choices from which a user may select. Such an “active document” preferably has the capability of presenting a questionnaire to a user and to consolidate responses to the questionnaire.
