摘要: Geocomposite articles that can provide a barrier against high conductivity water e.g., ocean water, are described and their method of manufacture, for waterproofing surfaces that contact high conductivity water. The geocomposite article mat includes a woven or non-woven geotextile sheet or mat containing a powdered or granular partially cross-linked acrylamide/acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer across its entire major surface(s). The powdered or granular copolymer has an unexpectedly high free-swell when hydrated with High Conductivity water, such as ocean water. A liquid-impermeable cover sheet is adhered to the upper major surfaces of the filled copolymer-carrying geotextile to provide a primary high conductivity water barrier layer that, if ruptured, is sealed by the swell of an underlying layer of water-insoluble, partially cross-linked acrylamide/acrylic acid copolymer.

摘要: Fibrous insulation products have an aqueous binder composition that includes a carbohydrate and a crosslinking agent. In exemplary embodiments, the carbohydrate-based binder composition may also include a catalyst, a coupling agent, a process aid, a crosslinking density enhancer, an extender, a moisture resistant agent, a deducting oil, a colorant, a corrosion inhibitor, a surfactant, a pH adjuster, and combinations thereof. The carbohydrate may be natural in origin and derived from renewable resources. Additionally, the carbohydrate polymer may have a dextrose equivalent (DE) number from 2 to 20. In at least one exemplary embodiment, the carbohydrate is a water-soluble polysaccharide such as dextrin or maltodextrin and the crosslinking agent is citric acid. Advantageously, the carbohydrates have a low viscosity and cure at moderate temperatures. The environmentally friendly, formaldehyde-free binder may be used in the formation of insulation materials and non-woven chopped strand mats. A method of making fibrous insulation products is also provided.

摘要: A method of producing carbon fiber, yarns, and nonwoven carbon fiber cloths, includes forming suitable polymeric precursor microfibers and/or nanofibers using a centrifugal spinning process and decomposing at least a portion of the polymeric precursor fibers to form carbon fibers. The decomposition may be accomplished by treating the polymeric precursor fibers with acid vapor from an aqueous acid solution at a temperature of less than 250° C.

摘要: Concentrated storage stable aqueous solutions (S) comprising components (a), (b) and (c), wherein component (a) is at least one optical brightening agent of formula (1), in which the anionic charge on the brightener is balanced by a cationic charge composed of one or more cations selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkali metal cation, alkaline earth metal cation, ammonium, ammonium which is mono-, di- or trisubstituted by a C1-4 linear or branched alkyl radical and ammonium which is mono-, di- or trisubstituted by a C1-4 linear or branched hydroxyalkyl radical, and the concentration of component (a) is 0.08 to 0.3 mol per kg, based on the total weight of the concentrated storage-stable aqueous solutions (S), component (b) is at least one inorganic salt (SA), in a concentration of 2 to 15% by weight, based on the total weight of the concentrated storage-stable aqueous solutions (S), and component (c) is water, in a concentration of 10% to 88% by weight, based on the total weight of the concentrated storage-stable aqueous solutions (S).

摘要: A self-wrapping, non-woven sleeve for routing and protecting elongate members and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve includes an elongate non-woven wall having opposite sides extending along a longitudinal axis of the sleeve. The sides are self-wrapping about the longitudinal axis to provide a tubular cavity. The sides are extendable away from one another under an externally applied force to expose the cavity for insertion of the elongate members, wherein the sides return to their self-wrapped configuration upon removal of the externally applied force. The wall includes discrete first regions of a material and discrete second regions of a material. The first and second regions of material are different and provide the wall with non-uniform physical properties.

摘要: A mattress includes a spring extending between first and second points to provide a first spring rate in a first direction. A polymer fiber structure is provided between the first and second points and adjoins the spring. The polymer fiber structure includes fibers interlinked with one another to provide the second spring rate in the first direction. An example method of manufacturing a mattress is provided that includes arranging springs to provide a mattress innerspring. A polymer fiber structure is introduced in a first state to the innerspring to provide an assembly. The assembly is further processed and the polymer fiber structure is simultaneously altered from the first state to a second state.

摘要: An apparel textile yarn includes a polyamide. The polyamide includes a nylon and a polyetheramine. The polyetheramine has a molecular weight of at least 1500 and an Amine Hydrogen Equivalent Weight (AHEW) of less than 10 percent higher than the idealized AHEW for the polyetheramine. The polyamide may have a moisture regain ranging from about 10% to about 30%.

The biocidal solutions and substrates comprising the compounds or precursors of the present invention can then be used to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms.

摘要: The invention relates to a planar structure for joining, in particular for the material-uniting joining, of at least two components. According to the invention, the planar structure is flexible and formed by at least one reaction strand. The reaction strand comprises a preferably cylindrical core, which is provided, at least in some areas, with a coating, which is constructed with a plurality of coaxially applied layers with a small thickness. To produce the layers, two different materials are used, the layers being constructed alternately with one of the two materials. Because of the high degree of flexibility of the reactive planar structure and its arbitrary area extent, components with a complex geometry in the region of the joint faces as well as large-format components can be joined in a material-uniting manner without problems. The reactive planar structure can be produced here using the methods known from textile engineering with virtually any dimensions and, in addition, by a continuous industrial production process. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for providing a material-uniting connection between two components, in particular by means of the planar structure according to the invention.
