摘要: A process is provided for a heat-resistant product that has
a support chosen from a glass fiber and an assembly of glass fibers, and
a coating extending over the outer surface of said support, in a zone called the “protected zone.” The coating has particles having a mean size of less than 100 nm and has more than 95% by mass of Al2O3 and/or ZrO2, referred to as “protective particles.” The protective particles cover more than 50% and less than 90%of the protected zone, as percentage by surface area. The process includes the step of subjecting the heat-resistant product to a temperature of greater than 600° C. for a duration of greater than 0.5 hours.-

摘要: The pliable building membrane 1 is a non-flammable inorganic fabric 2 defining a first planar side 4 and a second opposite planar side 5. A halocarbon polymer in the form of a fluorocarbon polymer 3 is impregnated into the first planar side 4. The halocarbon polymer may be polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), fluorin plastic, ethylene tetrafluoroethylene and/or a tetrafluoroethylene perfluoro propylene co-polymer, for example. Various embodiments have differing ratios of halocarbon polymer to non-flammable fabric and this influences its vapour permeability. A suitable minimum target vapour permeability is approximately 0.15 μg/N·s. An embodiment having a 1:1 ratio has a vapour permeability of approximately 1 μg/N·s, which is well suited for use as a sarking-type material. The non-flammable fabric 2 may be a satin-weave fiberglass fabric or other non-flammable fabrics, such as basalt fibre fabric, or carbon fibre fabric, for example.

摘要: A method and product for creating a customizable fabric for specific end-use composites is provided. This method includes creating a three-dimensional matrix on woven fabrics, such as glass or carbon fiber fabrics via the addition of nanoparticles and a coupling agent; and, attaching a functional group compatible to specific resins dependent upon end use. The resulting product is a resin-free fabric with specific functional groups attached, ready to receive a particular polymer resin. Alternatively, the process may continue through to the addition of a polymer resin, resulting in a completed composite product.

摘要: Methods of reducing salt precipitation from a binder composition are described. The methods may include the steps of providing an aqueous binder solution having one or more carbohydrates. They may also include adding a sequestrant for one or more multivalent ions to the aqueous binder solution. The sequestrant reduces a precipitation rate for the multivalent ions from the binder composition. The binder composition may include a polymerization catalyst. Exemplary sequestrants may include polycarboxylic acids or anhydrides. Exemplary sequestrant concentrations may range from about 2 wt. % or less of the aqueous binder solution.
