Abstract:
A two-piece, stamped muffler having an integrally-attached aerodynamic shield having a flat bottom shape is disclosed. The muffler may be formed with a substantially flat lower surface. The aerodynamically-improved muffler set forth herein is provided as an aerodynamic shield that is incorporated into an extended flange provided in the shell blank, as a deflector that is attached to a muffler lower shell body and the clamshell flange such as by welding, that is separately attached to the clamshell flange only such as by welding, or that is separately attached to the lower shell only, again possibly by welding. For dual stamped mufflers, the shield may be used jointly with an incremental shield separate from, or integrated into, the spare tire well to connect the twin dual muffler shields to achieve vehicle aerodynamic requirements. A muffler having the aerodynamic shield deflects underbody air flow outside of the rear fascia cavity.

Abstract:
An engine block arrangement includes an engine block and an exhaust gas system. The exhaust gas system, viewed in the flow direction of an exhaust gas flow, includes an exhaust gas turbocharger, an oxidation catalytic converter, a feed device for a urea-water solution, a particle filter, and an SCR catalytic converter arranged one behind the other. The exhaust gas turbocharger, the oxidation catalytic converter, the feed device for the urea-water solution, the particle filter, and the SCR catalytic converter are situated together on the engine block along one side thereof, the side being oriented essentially perpendicularly with respect to an output side of the engine block.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a construction machine in which a muffler for reducing the noise of exhaust gas emitted from the engine is mounted inside a counterweight. According to the present invention, the construction machine on which a counterweight having a muffler is mounted comprises: an upper frame pivotably mounted on a lower moving body; a driver compartment and an engine compartment mounted on the upper frame; a suction pipe communicating with the exhaust pipe of an engine mounted in the engine compartment, and into which exhaust gas flows; a muffler main body for reducing the noise of inflowing exhaust gas by means of a noise reducing device therein; a muffler comprising an exhaust pipe which emits the muffled exhaust gas to the outside; a working tool pivotably mounted on the front end of the upper frame and consisting of a boom, an arm, and a bucket which are respectively driven by a hydraulic cylinder; and a counterweight mounted on the rear end of the upper frame and having a compartment formed so as to mount the muffler therein.
Abstract:
A catalytic muffler for an internal combustion engine of a portable working tool, e.g. a chain saw or a trimmer, having a housing designed to be directly attached to an exhaust port of an engine. The housing further includes a front chamber and a rear chamber divided from each other by an intermediate baffle. The housing further having an inner housing having a first open end constituting the exhaust gas inlet located in the rear chamber. The inner housing includes a catalyst body through which essentially all exhaust gas flows when in use. A second open end of the inner housing is arranged in one of said front and rear chambers and the exhaust gas outlet of the muffler is arranged in the other chamber such that treated gas in use flows through at least one aperture in the intermediate baffle from one chamber to the other.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method and system for the purification of exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, comprising a filter and a SCR catalyst. The filter is periodically regenerated increasing the temperature of the exhaust gas up to 850° C. and the water vapour content up to 100% by volume. The SCR catalyst comprises a hydrothermally microporous stable zeolite and/or zeotype having the AEI type framework and being promoted with copper.
Abstract:
A skid steer machine includes an operator cage supported on a skid steer machine frame, a pair of lift arms pivotably attached to the skid steer machine frame behind the operator cage and extending longitudinally on both sides of the operator cage, and a rear mounted engine compartment supported on the skid steer machine frame. The rear mounted engine compartment includes an internal combustion engine, a diesel particulate filter fluidly connected to the internal combustion engine and positioned between the internal combustion engine and the operator cage, and a cooling package having a predominantly horizontal orientation. The cooling package is at a higher location within the rear mounted engine compartment than the diesel particulate filter.
Abstract:
An in-line four-cylinder internal combustion engine wherein exhaust ports (8, 9) of a pair of cylinders positioned at the center are connected to a single merged exhaust port (11) and this merged exhaust port (11) is connected through a first exhaust pipe (19) to a catalytic converter (18). On the other hand, exhaust ports (7, 10) of pairs of cylinders positioned at the two ends are connected through a second exhaust pipe (21) to a catalytic converter (18). A length of the first exhaust pipe (19) from the merged exhaust port (11) to the catalytic converter (18) is made shorter than the length of the second exhaust pipe (21) from the exhaust ports (7, 10) to the catalytic converter (18).
Abstract:
An exhaust tip assembly conducts hot engine exhaust from a muffler through an opening in a molded plastic bumper fascia. An exhaust pipe defining a cross-sectional flow area for the exhaust flow and has an inlet end attached to the muffler and an outlet end. The exhaust pipe has a flexible coupling portion intermediate the inlet end and the outlet end. A heat shield has a cross-sectional flow area greater than the pipe, and an inlet end attached to the outlet end of the pipe. A decorative bezel is attached to the heat shield at the outlet end of the heat shield. Fasteners fasten the heat shield to the fascia with the bezel located in the opening in the rear bumper fascia. During movement of the muffler, the bezel remains in the center of the opening as the flexible coupling portion of the exhaust pipe flexes.
