Abstract: A one-way recessed directional rumble strip system for controlling both direction and speed of traffic is described. The recessed directional rumble strip system includes a plurality of recessed directional rumble strips having a descending surface and a rumble face. Vehicles approaching the recessed directional rumble strip from a correct direction of travel are allowed to pass over the recessed directional rumble strip with little or no effect on the vehicle. Vehicles attempting to pass from the wrong direction will engage the features of the recessed directional rumble strip. This will affect an operating condition of the vehicle to change such as to cause a tactile and audible sensation to the driver. Indicia may be provided on the steep face to warn drivers that they are traveling in the wrong direction.

Abstract: Autonomous vehicles may communicate with each other in 5G or 6G to avoid hazards, mitigate collisions, and facilitate the flow of traffic. However, for cooperative action, each vehicle must determine the wireless address of other vehicles in proximity, so that they can communicate directly with each other. It is not sufficient to know the wireless address alone; the wireless address must be associated with an actual vehicle in view. Methods disclosed herein enable vehicles to exchange messages that specify the distances and angles of other vehicles in view. Then, each vehicle compares the other vehicle's measurements with its own, along with each vehicle's wireless address. Using an AI-based map-merging algorithm, one or more vehicles can produce a full traffic map from the fragmentary local maps of each vehicle's viewpoint.

Abstract: Communication between autonomous vehicles, in 5G or 6G, is necessary for cooperative hazard avoidance and to coordinate the flow of traffic. However, before cooperative action, each vehicle must determine the wireless address of other vehicles in proximity, so that they can communicate directly with each other. Methods and systems disclosed herein include a computer-readable wireless “connectivity matrix”, an array of black and white squares showing a connectivity code. The connectivity code may be the vehicle's wireless address, an index code, or other information about the vehicle. The connectivity code may be an index in a tabulation of information that provides the wireless address, among other data. Other vehicles, or their cameras, may read the connectivity matrix, determine the code therein, and find the vehicle's wireless address. After determining the wireless address of the other vehicles, the vehicles can then communicate and cooperate to avoid accidents and facilitate the flow of traffic.

Abstract: A method of using a directional sensor for the purposes of detecting the presence of a vehicle or an object within a zone of interest on a roadway or in a parking space. The method comprises the following steps: transmitting a microwave transmit pulse of less than 5 feet; radiating the transmitted pulse by a directional antenna system; receiving received pulses by an adjustable receive window; integrating or combining signals from multiple received pulses; amplifying and filtering the integrated receive signal; digitizing the combined signal; comparing the digitized signal to at least one preset or dynamically computed threshold values to determine the presence or absence of an object in the field of view of the sensor; and providing at least one pulse generator with rise and fall times of less than 3 ns each and capable of generating pulses less than 10 ns in duration.

Abstract: Techniques described herein include utilizing a mobile device as a proxy receiver for a vehicle such that a driver of the vehicle can be presented driving assistance information based on messages received by the mobile device. The mobile device can determine that it is temporally located with the vehicle. If so, the mobile device can be configured to receive messages from other entities (e.g., vehicles, roadside units, traffic signals, and the like) in a vehicle-to-everything network. On reception, the mobile device may determine whether a received data message is relevant to the vehicle. In response to determining that the data message is, in fact, relevant to the vehicle, the mobile device may provide driving assistance information that is generated based at least in part on the information provided in the received data message.

Abstract: A three-dimensional information processing method includes: obtaining, via a communication channel, map data that includes first three-dimensional position information; generating second three-dimensional position information from information detected by a sensor; judging whether one of the first three-dimensional position information and the second three-dimensional position information is abnormal by performing, on one of the first three-dimensional position information and the second three-dimensional position information, a process of judging whether an abnormality is present; determining a coping operation to cope with the abnormality when one of the first three-dimensional position information and the second three-dimensional position information is judged to be abnormal; and executing a control that is required to perform the coping operation.
