The present invention provides a grease composition capable of effectively preventing a rolling surface of a grease-enclosed bearing from having hydrogen brittleness-caused peeling and the grease-enclosed bearing. The grease composition includes a base grease consisting of a base oil and a thickener and an additive added to the base grease. The additive contains at least an epoxy compound. A mixing ratio of the epoxy compound to 100 parts by weight of the base grease is set to 0.05 to 10 parts by weight. The grease-enclosed bearing using the grease composition includes an inner ring (2) and an outer ring (3); a plurality of rolling elements (4) disposed between the inner ring (2) and the outer ring (3); and a sealing member (6) for covering openings (8a, 8b) disposed at both axial ends of the inner ring (2) and the outer ring (3). The grease composition (7) is enclosed on peripheries of the rolling elements (4).

The water-soluble lubricants of the invention possess exceptional lubricity for reducing friction between a die and a workpiece, have a minimal adverse effect on the operating environment, and can readily be treated in wastewater.

An oil-based corrosion inhibitor composition for use in lubricating and/or hydraulic oils includes an oil-soluble sulfonate salt, an imidazoline salt of a fatty acid or a poly acid, and a polymerized ester, with the corrosion inhibitor composition being diluted with a polyalphaolefin to a suitable viscosity for subsequent use as an additive to such oils. In preferred embodiments, the corrosion inhibiting additive composition is mixed with the lubricating and/or hydraulic oils at a concentration of between about 2–5% by weight of the combination.

A copolymer comprising units of an unsaturated dicarboxylic monomer and an ethylene .alpha.-olefin macromer is disclosed. The macromer is an unsaturated ethylene .alpha.-olefin polymer comprising units of from ethylene and at least one .alpha.-olefin represented by the formula CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHR.sup.a, wherein R.sup.a is a C.sub.1 to C.sub.18 linear alkyl group or a C.sub.3 to C.sub.18 branched alkyl group; the ethylene .alpha.-olefin polymer has a number average molecular weight of from about 500 to about 100,000; and at least about 30% of the unsaturation in the ethylene .alpha.-olefin polymer is terminal vinylidene. The copolymer has a carbon-carbon backbone and contains succinic groups and hydrocarbyl groups. The copolymer can be derivatized by reaction with nucleophilic reactants including monoamines, polyamines, monoalcohols, polyols, amino alcohols, reactant metal compounds and mixtures thereof. The derivatized copolymers can be post-treated (e.g., borated) with one or more post-treating agents (e.g., boric acid). The copolymer, its derivatives, and post-treated derivatives are useful as additives (e.g., dispersants and viscosity index improvers) in fuels and in lubricating oils.
