Abstract:
Fluorochemical amine salt compounds containing one or more fluoroaliphatic radicals and one or more salt-forming amino groups which have cyanoalkyl groups as N-substituents groups, such compounds being useful as treating agents for fibrous substrates, such as textiles, e.g., carpet, to modify surface properties thereof, viz., to impart oil and water repellency to the surface of said substrates.
Abstract:
Carpet is rendered soil resistant and stain repellant by contacting it with a carpet treating composition comprising a liquid containing a water-insoluble addition polymer derived from polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer free of nonvinylic fluorine and having at least one major transition temperature higher than about 25.degree. C., and a water-insoluble fluoroaliphatic radical- and aliphatic chlorine-containing ester having at least one major transition temperature higher than about 25.degree. C.
Abstract:
Textiles, particularly carpets, are endowed with oil and water repellency and soil resistance by treatment thereof with certain detergent-compatible fluorochemmical compounds which can also be used in conjunction with anionic or nonionic detergents to provide cleaning/treating compositions for cleaning such textiles simultaneously with the treatment. The textile treating compositions of the invention comprise certain detergent-compatible fluorochemical compounds which are dissolved and/or dispersed in a suitable liquid vehicle. The textile treating/cleaning compositions of the invention also contain an anionic and/or a nonionic detergent.
Abstract:
CERTAIN NEAT LIQUID PERFLUOROALKYL ESTERS WERE REACTED WITH CERTAIN NEAT L IQUID POLYAMINES CONTAINING A PRIMARY: SECONDARY:TERTIARY AMINE RATIO OF 1:2:1 TO PRODUCE NEW LIQUID POLYMERIC FLUOROAMIDO-AMINO COMPOUNDS. THE NEW COMPOUNDS WERE DISSOLVED IN CERTAIN SOLVENTS AND APPLIED TO COTTON FABRICS THEREBY IMPARTING TO THE TREATED FABRICS OLEOPHOBICITY WITH RETAINED HYDROPHILICITY WHICH WAS DURAABLE TO REPEATED LAUNDERING.
Abstract:
Urethanes consisting of a 2-hydroxy-1,1''-diphenyl ketone having an R-NH-CO-0- group in 4-position and wherein R e.g. represents an alkyl or an aryl radical. These urethanes are useful as stabilizers for organic material and above all as agents for combatting harmful micro-organisms.
Abstract:
PERFLUOROACYLKAMINOHYDROXY AROMATIC COMPOUNDS ARE PROVIDED WHICH ARE OUTSTANDING FOR PRODUCING OIL AND WATER REPELLENT EFFECTS ON TEXTILES AS WELL AS INCREASING THE RESISTANCE TO SOILING BY OILY PARTICULATE SOIL. THE AROMATIC NUCLEUS WHICH MAY CONTAIN 1,2 OR 3 RINGS MAY CONTAIN 1 OR 2 AMINO GROUPS, 1 OR 2 HYDROXY GROUPS AND UP TO 2 HYDROXY METHYL GROUPS. ONE OR 2 OF THE AMINO GROUPS ARE ACYLATED WITH A PERFLUORO ACYL GROUP CONTAINING FROM 3 TO 21 CARBON ATOMS IN WHICH AT LEAST 70% OF THE HYDROGENS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH FLUORINE. THE COMPOUNDS MAY ALSO CONTAIN ALKYL SUBSTITUENTS OF FROM 1 TO 5 CARBON ATOMS.
Abstract:
The filter medium is a filter medium which uses a liquid containing oil and water as a separation target, and has a channel for the liquid. The filter medium includes a base constituting the channel, and one or more of nitrogen-containing fluorine compounds which are provided on at least a portion of a surface of the channel. The nitrogen-containing fluorine compound includes an oil-repellency imparting group and any one hydrophilicity imparting group selected from a group consisting of an anion type, a cation type, and an amphoteric type, in a molecule.
Abstract:
A textile having high fluorine adhesion rate, and excellent water- and oil-repellency can be obtained by a method of producing a treated textile, comprising steps of: (1) preparing a treatment liquid comprising a water- and oil-repellent agent which comprises at least one fluorine-containing compound selected from the group consisting of a fluorine-containing polymer or a fluorine-containing low molecular weight compound, (2) adjusting pH of the treatment liquid to at most 7, (3) applying the treatment liquid to a textile, (4) treating the textile with steam, and (5) washing the textile with water and dehydrating the textile, wherein the treatment liquid comprises a thermally gelling substance.
