Abstract: A condensation curable gel composition is the disclosed. The composition comprises: (i) at least one condensation curable silyl terminated polymer having at least one hydrolysable and/or hydroxyl functional group(s) per molecule; (ii) a cross-linker selected from the group of a silicone, an organic polymer, a monosilane or a disilane molecule which contains at least two hydrolysable groups per molecule; and (iii) a condensation catalyst selected from the group of titanates, zirconates or tin (II). The molar ratio of hydroxyl and/or hydrolysable group(s) in polymer (i) to hydrolysable groups from component (ii) is between 0.5:1 and 1:1 using a monosilane cross-linker or 0.75:1 to 3:1 using disilanes. The titanates and zirconates comprise M-OR functions where M is titanium or zirconium and R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group. The molar ratio of M-OR or tin (II) functions to the hydroxyl and/or hydrolysable groups in polymer (i) is comprised between 0.01:1 and 0.5:1.

Abstract: A coating composition for forming an electrically insulating film, a method of making the coating composition, and the cured coating composition are provided. The coating composition includes a curable polymer comprising at least one functional group for forming cross-linking structures, a curative configured to react with the at least one functional group in the curable polymer, a sol comprising silica or metal oxide nanoparticles having a particle diameter in a range of from about 0.1 nm to about 100 nm, an organic titanate, and optionally at least one solvent or diluent. The resulting cured coating or paint provides good insulation, coverage, adhesion, toughness, and corrosion resistance.

Abstract: A method of manufacture of zinc monoglycerolate containing an incorporated modifier, and the product, the zinc monoglycerolate being in the form of agglomerates of crystallites, wherein the crystallite size based on the average coherence domain length is not more than 30 nm in the direction, and not more than 60 nm in the direction, as determined by the Scherrer equation via powder X-ray diffraction; and the aspect ratio computed by / coherent domain lengths is less than 0.65, preferably less than 0.56, in particular less than 0.44. Polymers containing this nucleating agent and methods for their production are also described. The zinc monoglycerolate is useful as a nucleating agent, and is very effective at low loading levels in polymers such as polypropylene.

Abstract: Disclosed is a flame retardant composition containing (A) an amine phosphate and (B) a zinc glycerolate. It is preferred that component (A) contain an amine pyrophosphate and that the mass ratio of component (A) to component (B) be 99.99:0.01 to 60:40. The flame retardant composition preferably further contains (C) zinc oxide, wherein the content of component (C) is 0.01 to 10 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the sum of components (A) and (B). The flame retardant composition preferably further contains (D) hydrotalcite, wherein the content of component (D) is 0.01 to 5 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the sum of components (A) and (B).

Abstract: The invention provides a method for producing a modified conjugated diene (co)polymer, the method including comprising: a modification reaction step including causing an organic silane compound to react with a conjugated diene (co)polymer having an active site at the active site, the organic silane compound having a characteristic group for forming a silanol group through hydrolysis and, in the vicinity of the characteristic group, (i) a functional group which binds the organic silane compound to the conjugated diene (co)polymer via addition to or substitution at the active site and which promotes reaction between the silanol group and a reinforcing filler after the addition or substitution reaction, or (ii) a functional group which promotes reaction between the silanol group and a reinforcing filler, and a hydrolyzation step performed after the modification reaction step; a modified conjugated diene (co)polymer having, at a molecular end of the conjugated diene (co)polymer, a silanol group, and a functional group in the vicinity of the silanol group, the functional group accelerating reaction between the silanol group and the reinforcing filler; a rubber composition containing the (co)polymer and carbon black having specific characteristics; and a tire formed from the rubber composition.
