摘要: A solvent-free undercoat composition for corrosion control at welds and other repair sites on plastic-sheathed steel pipes with and without cathodic protection, including a component K1: a water-based rubber dispersion for formation of a barrier layer for isolating the metallic repair site from oxygen, water vapor and water penetrating from externally; a component K2: a water-based resin dispersion for adhesion on the metallic surface of the repair site and on the nonpolar surfaces of the plastic sheathing; a component K3: an aqueous emulsion of prehydrolyzed organofunctional silanes for accelerating the drying, for improving the adhesion to the metallic surface, particularly at elevated temperatures, and for increasing the resistance to cathodic disbondment.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a composition comprising a thermoplastic polymer and a thermally conductive filler package comprising thermally conductive, electrically insulative filler particles having a thermal conductivity of at least 5 W/m.K measured according to ASTM D7984) and a volume resistivity of at least 10 Ω·m (measured according to ASTM D257) and being present in an amount of at least 50% by volume based on total volume of the filler package. The present invention also is directed to coatings comprising a thermal conductivity of at least 0.5 W/m·K (measured according to ASTM D7984) and to substrates, at least a portion of which is coated with such a coating.

摘要: Functionalized copolymers of isoolefins and conjugated diolefins, methods of preparing the copolymers, and their use as compatibilizers are disclosed. The diolefin monomer units of the co-polymer are modified at the C═C double bond along the backbone of the copolymer to include an oxygen containing functional group such as epoxide, ester or alcohol. The functionalized copolymers improve the wettability of a non-hydrophilic surface towards hydrophilic polymer and allows for the formation of homogenous layers of the hydrophilic polymers. In particular, the spreading of a hydrophilic polymer on a non-hydrophilic substrate is facilitated by applying the co-polymers as an interfacial layer between the two incompatible materials. The resulting coated substrates exhibit resistance to protein adsorption and cell growth after grafting. The co-polymers are especially suited in the coating of biomedical devices where a high degree of uniformity of the coated surface is required.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for preparing a stable and thin liquid polyisobutene emulsion comprising the steps of i) heating a polyisobutene polymer, optionally mixing said polyisobutene polymer with a wax and/or oil, thereby obtaining a pre-mix, ii) mixing said pre-mix in water containing one or more surfactants in a concentration of the surfactant of maximum 5% wt. at a controlled flow rate, which flow rate is sufficiently slow to form particles of the pre-mix, thereby obtaining a pre-emulsion, and iii) homogenizing said pre-emulsion, thereby obtaining said polyisobutene emulsion with an average particle size of at maximum 100 μm.

摘要: A method for repairing asphalt pavement involves passing an emitter over a surface of a damaged asphalt pavement comprising aged asphalt, wherein the emitter comprises a birefringent material through which the electromagnetic radiation generated by the emitter passes, wherein the emitter generates electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of from about 2 microns to 1 millimeter, the radiation penetrating into the pavement to a depth of at least 2 inches, wherein a temperature differential throughout a top two inches of pavement is 100° F. or less, wherein a highest temperature in the top two inches of pavement does not exceed 300° F., and wherein a minimum temperature in the top two inches of pavement is at least 200° F.
